Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2300296/fan_mail/new] Your body can be ready, and you can still get humbled by a borrowed bike, unfamiliar gears, and one tiny detail you forgot to practice. I’m Leonilla Campos, a registered dietitian and founder of Field by Leo, and I’m breaking down my sprint triathlon experience from start to finish: what went well, what surprised me, and what I would absolutely do differently next time. I share the backstory of my first triathlon seven years ago, why swimming felt like the scariest part, and how returning to the sport as a busy parent changes the whole mental game. You’ll hear the real race-day stuff people skip: pre-start anxiety, counting pool laps, scrambling through transitions, and that brutal moment when you step off the bike and your legs feel like rocks. We also get into endurance nutrition and triathlon fueling from a plant-based angle. I explain why I increased carbohydrates to support training and glycogen recovery, what foods helped me feel better in workouts, and how I think about vegan protein sources like tofu and shakes while still keeping meals balanced. If you’re curious about sprint triathlon training, beginner triathlon tips, bike fit basics, or building big goals toward an Olympic triathlon and an Ironman, this one will give you an honest blueprint. Subscribe, share this with a friend training for their first race, and leave a review with your biggest triathlon question. Thank you for listening. No Puedes Liderar Bien Cuando Estás Agotado.

How To Lead Better By Managing Your Body’s Energy

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2300296/fan_mail/new] Leadership advice loves strategy and mindset, but if you’re running on fumes, none of it sticks. We get real about the overlooked driver of performance: energy. Not “motivation” energy, but the physiological kind that determines whether you can think clearly, stay patient, and make strong decisions when it counts. If you’re a high achiever who keeps pushing through brain fog, irritability, or that wired-but-tired feeling, this conversation is for you. We unpack why so many capable people end up with inconsistent energy even while doing “all the right things” on paper: skipping meals because you’re busy, leaning on caffeine for focus, training hard without adequate recovery, and cutting sleep short. From the outside it can look like discipline, but internally your metabolism, blood sugar stability, stress response, and sleep quality may be taking the hit, and leadership becomes harder than it needs to be. Then we simplify a sustainable framework you can actually use. We walk through four foundations that support metabolic health and long-term energy: consistent fueling with enough protein, strength-building movement, sleep as the core regulator, and recovery that brings your body out of stress mode. We also share relatable examples from sports and parenting to show why recovery is not laziness, it’s how you come back sharper, more focused, and more strategic. If you want sustainable performance without burning out, press play and take one step toward steadier energy.

How Childhood Food Lessons Shape Adult Eating

Send us Fan Mail [https://www.buzzsprout.com/2300296/fan_mail/new] Guilt about leaving food and the urge to eat fast often come from childhood rules and scarcity, not a lack of discipline. We talk through how food stories shape adult eating and how to rebuild trust with hunger, fullness, and choice.  • how clean your plate rules override hunger and fullness cues  • why food behaviors are learned survival strategies, not moral failures  • how food insecurity can show up as rushing, hoarding, overeating, and anxiety  • dropping good and bad food labels to reduce shame and backlash eating  • identifying food rules and tracing where they came from  • reconnecting with hunger and satiety cues using a 1 to 10 scale  • choosing one calm meal to practice mindful eating and avoid multitasking  • giving yourself permission to leave a few bites and sit with discomfort  • building food security with consistent meals, snacks, and reliable foods at home  • setting respectful boundaries at family gatherings while honoring culture  I invite you to send me a message, download this episode, share it with a friend. If you want to go over some of these rules with me, I'll be more than happy to do that with you. Thank you for listening. Please subscribe to this podcast and share with a friend.
