Today’s episode titled “Fix Your Body Posture for an Amazing Chakra Cleanse!” will tell you about how skeletal re-posturing opens chakras through completing our bipedal skeletal evolution. As it happened, their skeleton started evolving to suit itself to bipedalism as much as it could. It changed in its arrangement of bones with respect to one another as well as in their shapes and sizes. Though running became less energy-efficient, walking was much more important. Hence the trade-off worked. It increased their locomotion tremendously. This changed the lengths of their legs. 0:00:21.920,0:00:28.800 My name is Laadi Ojas. Welcome to “Skeletal Leap: A Living Adventure”. 0:00:28.800,0:00:34.160 Skeletal Leap transforms one’s life into a personal heaven. 0:00:34.160,0:00:38.320 Today’s episode will tell you about how skeletal re-posturing 0:00:38.320,0:00:44.480 opens chakras through completing our bipedal skeletal evolution. 0:00:44.480,0:00:51.440 Human bipedalism started around 4-7 million years ago when our ancestors named hominins 0:00:51.440,0:00:58.480 stood on their twos. As it happened, their skeleton started evolving to suit itself to 0:00:58.480,0:01:05.040 bipedalism as much as it could. It changed in its arrangement of bones with respect to 0:01:05.040,0:01:12.240 one another as well as in their shapes and sizes. The changes involved were… 0:01:12.240,0:01:19.040 New arrangement and size of foot bones | Hip size and shape | Knee size | Leg 0:01:19.040,0:01:26.160 length | Shape and orientation of vertebral column | Skull orientation 0:01:26.160,0:01:33.200 Bipedalism made walking more energy-efficient and human movement much easier. Though running 0:01:33.200,0:01:39.920 became less energy-efficient, walking was much more important. Hence the trade-off worked. 0:01:39.920,0:01:48.400 It increased their locomotion tremendously. Bipedalism Driven Skeletal Evolution Details 0:01:48.400,0:01:54.240 There were other trade-offs as well, all through the skeletal system, that Homo sapiens have been 0:01:54.240,0:02:01.600 dealing with the adverse effects of, ever since. In the rest of this episode, I will endeavor to 0:02:01.600,0:02:08.160 describe various parts of our skeleton while pointing out those particular trade-offs that 0:02:08.160,0:02:15.600 apply to each of those parts. I will, then, go on to describe the ideal position/ posture of 0:02:15.600,0:02:21.520 those parts while bringing our attention to how we have gotten used to their ‘unhealthy’ versions. 0:02:22.240,0:02:26.320 This will be followed by descriptions of the corresponding biological/ 0:02:26.320,0:02:33.920 psychological ailments arising from those ‘unhealthy’ positions/ postures. Finally, 0:02:33.920,0:02:40.640 I will arrive at my most significant discovery and thesis which is to ascribe the appropriate 0:02:40.640,0:02:46.400 chakras to these ‘unhealthy’ positions/ postures and their resultant ailments. 0:02:47.120,0:02:53.280 Needless to say, this will be accompanied with the necessary actions required to dissolve those 0:02:53.280,0:02:57.120 chakras. Foot: 0:02:57.120,0:03:03.680 With the help of newly evolved larger heels, the foot increased in size. This enabled it 0:03:03.680,0:03:08.880 to work like a platform on which the body weight could easily rest. It also turned 0:03:08.880,0:03:15.360 the toes smaller than before as they were no more used to grasp things like tree trunks. 0:03:16.160,0:03:22.400 The foot, as a platform, didn’t evolve as a flat surface but did so as an arched one. 0:03:22.400,0:03:27.200 This arching distributed the body weight along the feet from their heels to their balls behind 0:03:27.200,0:03:34.000 the big toes. This weight distribution conserved a lot of energy while walking. 0:03:34.000,0:03:39.040 Here, I feel the need to share my observations from training people in re-posturing through 0:03:39.040,0:03:46.160 Skeletal Leap. The energy conservation in walking resulting from body weight distribution is the 0:03:46.160,0:03:54.240 ideal state. What I have noticed in the majority of my trainees is something different. Owing to 0:03:54.240,0:03:59.600 posturing their body in a wrong way over years and years, they distribute their body weight 0:03:59.600,0:04:06.080 on the outsides of their feet. Most of them do so toward the outer sides of their heels 0:04:06.080,0:04:13.120 whereas the rest do toward their little toes. The first thing I always check in my trainees is the 0:04:13.120,0:04:21.840 soles of their shoes. More specifically, where those soles have worn the most. My data suggest 0:04:21.840,0:04:28.080 that most of the modern Homo sapiens distribute their body weight on their feet the wrong way. 0:04:28.080,0:04:35.760 Today, the human foot is a complex structure of 26 bones, 33 joints and hundreds of muscles, 0:04:35.760,0:04:40.080 tendons and ligaments. The main joints of the foot are: 0:04:40.080,0:04:46.960 Ankle joint | Subtalar joint | Interphalangeal foot articulations 0:04:46.960,0:04:53.760 A foot has three parts to it: The hindfoot comprises the ankle bone (talus) 0:04:53.760,0:05:00.880 and heel bone (calcaneus). The ankle bone connects to tibia and fibula in the lower leg and forms the 0:05:00.880,0:05:08.080 ankle joint. At its other end, it connects to the heel bone and forms the subtalar joint. 0:05:08.080,0:05:15.840 The midfoot has five bones: the cuboid, navicular and three cuneiform bones from its arches, 0:05:15.840,0:05:20.400 serving as a shock absorber. It is connected to the hindfoot and the 0:05:20.400,0:05:27.680 forefoot with muscles and plantar fascia. The forefoot comprises five toes and five 0:05:27.680,0:05:35.040 proximal long bones forming metatarsus. Toe bones are called phalanges. The joints among 0:05:35.040,0:05:40.800 these phalanges are named interphalangeal joints while joints of phalanges with 0:05:40.800,0:05:48.240 metatarsus are named metatarsophalangeal joints. The human foot has two longitudinal and one 0:05:48.240,0:05:54.480 transverse arches. They make walking and running more energy-efficient. 0:05:54.480,0:05:57.200 Knee: Human knee joints 0:05:57.200,0:06:01.920 have also evolved to support the increased body weight between just the two of them, 0:06:01.920,0:06:09.360 as opposed to among the four before bipedalism. The degree of knee extension, meaning the angle 0:06:09.360,0:06:16.720 between the thigh and the shank in the walking cycle, has decreased. This change called double 0:06:16.720,0:06:23.040 knee action reduces energy lost by vertical displacement of the center of gravity. It 0:06:23.040,0:06:31.040 enables Homo sapiens to keep their knees straight right under the body, improving its balance. 0:06:31.040,0:06:36.080 The knee joins the thigh and the leg with two joints, tibiofemoral joint connecting 0:06:36.080,0:06:42.160 femur with tibia and patellofemoral joint connecting femur and patella. 0:06:42.160,0:06:48.640 This modified hinge joint is the largest joint in the body. It very efficiently 0:06:48.640,0:06:56.000 permits flexion and extension along with a limited internal and external rotation. 0:06:56.000,0:07:01.200 Limbs: Evolution, driven by bipedalism, meant that Homo 0:07:01.200,0:07:08.000 sapiens were the only species to function with an upright gait. This changed the lengths of their 0:07:08.000,0:07:14.800 legs. Today, leg muscles are the ones that give a push, through their ankles, to the action of 0:07:14.800,0:07:23.840 walking. Longer legs also give an effortless swing to the steps without using the muscles every time. 0:07:23.840,0:07:30.640 Since forelimbs, or hands as we now call them, don’t play any role in the action of walking, they 0:07:30.640,0:07:37.520 have been freed to be used for other activities. Bipedal evolution provided Homo sapiens with 0:07:37.520,0:07:44.240 upper limbs for visually guided manipulation and lower limbs for mechanically guided bipedal gait. 0:07:44.880,0:07:51.440 It also optimized the location of the body’s center of gravity. It further reorganized the 0:07:51.440,0:07:58.720 internal organs and the biomechanism of the trunk through a double S shaped vertebral column. Today, 0:07:58.720,0:08:05.920 the double S shape of the vertebral column is an efficient shock absorber. The entire skeletal 0:08:05.920,0:08:12.240 system thus efficiently shifts the weight of the upper body to the sole of the feet. 0:08:12.240,0:08:18.880 Long, load bearing legs are also very nicely optimized for bipedalism. 0:08:18.880,0:08:25.200 All the large joints of the lower limb are aligned in a vertically oriented straight line. 0:08:25.200,0:08:30.960 Hip and Pelvis: Bipedalism also resulted in larger hip 0:08:30.960,0:08:38.240 joints than before to better support the entire body weight. It made the hip shorter and broader, 0:08:38.240,0:08:44.480 bringing the vertebral column closer to itself. This re-arrangement provided a more stable 0:08:44.480,0:08:51.440 base for the support of the trunk while walking upright. The ilium broadened, thereby adjusting 0:08:51.440,0:08:58.480 the walls of the pelvis to face laterally. The size of the gluteus muscles increased as well, 0:08:58.480,0:09:06.640 enabling Homo sapiens to assume a balanced stance even on just one leg. The sacrum turned broader, 0:09:06.640,0:09:11.920 thus increasing the opening of the birth canal in the females of the species. 0:09:11.920,0:09:18.320 Three pelvic bones fused into one as the hip bone. Today, the hip joins the head of the femur to the 0:09:18.320,0:09:25.760 acetabulum of the pelvis. This joint supports the weight of the body in its static as well as 0:09:25.760,0:09:33.680 dynamic state. Thus, the hip joint retains balance and maintains the pelvic inclination angle. 0:09:33.680,0:09:38.560 Pelvic Tilt: Pelvic tilt is a movable postural orientation 0:09:38.560,0:09:45.280 of the pelvis. It is an orientation relative to the thigh bones, knee joints and the soles of the 0:09:45.280,0:09:51.840 feet below. It also changes the orientation of the hip joint. When postured right, it 0:09:51.840,0:09:59.840 subtly supports the weight of the vertebral column above it while keeping its double S shape intact. 0:09:59.840,0:10:04.800 But that is just a description of the ideal pelvic orientation. A major 0:10:04.800,0:10:10.960 chunk of the human population habitually keeps this pelvic tilt wrongly postured. 0:10:10.960,0:10:15.120 There are two reasons for this unhealthy habit formation. 0:10:15.760,0:10:21.920 The first one is the downward pull by gravity on its orientation. People give in to this constant 0:10:21.920,0:10:29.520 downward pull when they lack enough life energy to keep its orientation up. They just let the front 0:10:29.520,0:10:36.240 of their pelvis drop in relation to its back. The newly acquired orientation called anterior 0:10:36.240,0:10:43.120 pelvic tilt also disrupts the orientation of the hip joint. This further disrupts the double 0:10:43.120,0:10:49.520 S shape of the vertebral column above. Below, it disrupts the load bearing distribution at 0:10:49.520,0:10:57.520 the knee joints and at the soles of the feet, thus rendering the entire skeletal posture ‘unhealthy’. 0:10:57.520,0:11:03.600 The second reason is an emotionally driven, ‘pulled-in’ psychological state that results in 0:11:03.600,0:11:10.800 same aforementioned ‘unhealthy’ skeletal posture. The aforementioned anterior pelvic tilt is just 0:11:10.800,0:11:17.440 one, albeit the most prevalent, of its many abnormal orientations. 0:11:17.440,0:11:21.200 The second most prevalent of the abnormal orientations of the pelvic 0:11:21.200,0:11:26.720 joint is the posterior pelvic tilt. Here is a complete list of pelvic 0:11:26.720,0:11:32.640 tilt abnormalities as and when its orientation gets wrongly postured: 0:11:34.080,0:11:41.280 Anterior pelvic tilt drops the front of the pelvis relative to the back of the pelvis. It shortens 0:11:41.280,0:11:50.960 the hip flexors and lengthens the hip extensors. Posterior pelvic tilt raises the front of the 0:11:50.960,0:11:55.200 pelvic relative to the back of the pelvis. It lengthens the hip 0:11:55.200,0:12:03.680 flexors and shortens the hip extensors. Lateral pelvic tilt happens when one 0:12:03.680,0:12:10.400 keeps pelvis tilted to left or right habitually, resulting in scoliosis. 0:12:11.600,0:12:18.960 Left pelvic tilt keeps the right side of the pelvis raised more than the left side. 0:12:20.400,0:12:27.280 Right pelvic tilt keeps the left side of the pelvis raised more than the right side. 0:12:27.280,0:12:32.800 Tailbone vis-à-vis Root Chakra: Pelvic tilt is the sole cause of 0:12:32.800,0:12:38.240 a closed root chakra appearing at the lowest point, coccyx (aka tailbone), 0:12:38.240,0:12:46.080 of the vertebral column. Coccyx lies very near the pelvic belt. And the pelvic tilt drops it down and 0:12:46.080,0:12:53.280 pushes it forward in the case of a posterior pelvic tilt. When the pelvic tilt is anterior, 0:12:53.280,0:13:01.600 it still drops the coccyx down but pushes it backward this time. Both these maneuvers sow the 0:13:01.600,0:13:08.480 seed of closed chakras eventually distorting the double S curve of the vertebral column. 0:13:08.480,0:13:14.560 A closed root chakra also disrupts the anatomy and hence the physiology of the pelvis, 0:13:14.560,0:13:23.360 hip and the lower limb. It disrupts the pelvic, hip, knee, ankle and subtalar joints 0:13:23.360,0:13:31.440 with interphalangeal articulations of the feet and the associated muscles, nerves and blood vessels. 0:13:31.440,0:13:40.880 As a result, the tailbone (coccyx) drops down as well as moves forward or backward at the pelvis. 0:13:41.600,0:13:49.040 The body weight distribution on the hip, knees and soles of the feet gets distorted centering its 0:13:49.040,0:13:57.280 thrust on the wrong points. With the passage of time, one develops knee pain, sciatica, varicose 0:13:57.280,0:14:05.040 veins and constipation in case of posterior pelvic tilt. When it is due to anterior pelvic tilt, 0:14:05.040,0:14:12.320 constipation gets replaced with chronic diarrhea. Symptoms of root chakra blockage are indicators of 0:14:12.320,0:14:18.960 lifestyle diseases related to the root chakra. It makes us feel ungrounded biologically 0:14:18.960,0:14:23.280 as well as psychologically. Hence it keeps us perennially concerned 0:14:23.280,0:14:31.920 with survival and material security in life. More specifically, a posterior pelvic tilt turns 0:14:31.920,0:14:40.560 us into misers who fear losing whatever little we have. Biologically, this manifests as 0:14:40.560,0:14:48.400 constipation, belly fat and/ or hemorrhoids. On the other hand, an anterior pelvic tilt 0:14:48.400,0:14:57.360 turns us into spendthrifts. Contrary to common perception, this comes from a place of greed. 0:14:57.360,0:15:02.720 Here, I’d like to bring our attention back to a point I made earlier, i.e., the opposite of 0:15:02.720,0:15:09.360 fear is not courage but greed. Therefore, it makes us believe that our wealth would 0:15:09.360,0:15:17.520 never deplete even when a lot of it gets lost. Biologically, this leads to chronic diarrhea. 0:15:17.520,0:15:20.960 Both types of pelvic tilts are accompanied by other symptoms 0:15:20.960,0:15:27.200 such as acidity and loss of appetite. Opening the root chakra reverses the wrong 0:15:27.200,0:15:34.240 done to the pelvic tilt and makes the ideal pelvic posture one’s first nature. Doing away 0:15:34.240,0:15:42.000 with our pelvic tilt tends to start the first step toward a ‘healthy’ skeletal re-posturing. 0:15:42.000,0:15:45.520 Vertebral Column: The vertebral column 0:15:45.520,0:15:52.080 of Homo sapiens, in its natural posture, has a forward bend in its lumbar region. 0:15:52.080,0:15:59.360 Above this, it has a backward bend in its thoracic region. Together, these two bends give rise to the 0:15:59.360,0:16:05.920 double S shape of the vertebral column. Without its forward bend in its lumbar region, the body 0:16:05.920,0:16:14.000 would have kept leaning forward. In that case it would have needed a huge effort to stand upright. 0:16:14.000,0:16:18.480 The forward bend in the lumbar region and the backward bend in the thoracic region 0:16:18.480,0:16:24.000 keep the body straight. These two bends do so by keeping the body’s center of 0:16:24.000,0:16:29.760 gravity vertically in line with its feet. The vertebral column is what makes Homo 0:16:29.760,0:16:38.080 sapiens a vertebrate that has a long chain of vertebrae separated by intervertebral discs. 0:16:38.080,0:16:43.520 Their nomenclature is done by their region – denoted by a letter – within the vertebral 0:16:43.520,0:16:51.440 column and their position – denoted by a number – within that region. The vertebral column also 0:16:51.440,0:17:00.000 has a spinal canal for housing the spinal cord. Nomenclature of the vertebrae: Cervical spine 7 0:17:00.000,0:17:09.840 vertebrae (C1 - C7) | Thoracic spine 12 vertebrae (T1 - T12) | Lumbar spine 5 0:17:09.840,0:17:21.600 vertebrae (L1 -L5) | Sacrum 5 fused vertebrae (S1 -S5) | Coccyx 4 fused vertebrae (Tailbone) 0:17:21.600,0:17:29.600 There are 33 vertebrae in the vertebral column. The upper 24 of them are of the articulating type 0:17:29.600,0:17:37.440 and separated from one another by intervertebral discs. The lower 9 of them are of the fused type 0:17:37.440,0:17:45.520 in human adults, 5 in the sacrum and 4 in the coccyx. Ligaments at the front, 0:17:45.520,0:17:51.440 back and in between the vertebrae help lengthen the vertebral column. 0:17:51.440,0:17:59.120 These ligaments join the spinous processes, the transverse processes and the vertebral laminae. 0:17:59.120,0:18:06.320 Atlas and axis are the topmost vertebrae in the cervical region and they support the head. 0:18:06.320,0:18:12.320 Vertebral body and vertebral arch are the two parts of a vertebra placed anteriorly and 0:18:12.320,0:18:20.320 posteriorly respectively. These two parts that are in contact with each other enclose the vertebral 0:18:20.320,0:18:27.520 foramen through which the spinal cord passes. The vertebral arch comprises two pedicles 0:18:27.520,0:18:34.640 and two laminae. The arch performs seven processes out of which 4 are articular, 0:18:34.640,0:18:42.240 2 are transverse and one is spinous (aka neural spine). The spinous process comes out the back 0:18:42.240,0:18:49.200 and the two transverse processes come out left and right respectively. Vertebrae are joined by 0:18:49.200,0:18:56.080 a thin portion of the neural arch called the pars interarticularis with facet joints that 0:18:56.080,0:19:03.920 allow a restricted movement. Each pair of two vertebrae contains two small holes between them. 0:19:04.640,0:19:10.720 These holes are named intervertebral foramina. Spinal nerves go out of the spinal cord to 0:19:10.720,0:19:16.400 the organs through these holes. As a result of bipedal evolution, 0:19:16.400,0:19:23.680 the vertebral column got curved at numerous places to stabilize the body in an upright position. 0:19:23.680,0:19:29.280 Here is a list of curves in the vertebral column comprising their vertebrae: 0:19:29.280,0:19:40.560 C2 - T2: convex forward (lordotic curve) | T2 - T12: concave forward (kyphotic curve) | T12 - S1: 0:19:40.560,0:19:49.280 convex forward (lordotic curve) | S1 - Tailbone: concave forward (kyphotic curve) 0:19:49.280,0:19:52.400 Curvature abnormalities are of four types: 0:19:52.960,0:20:05.520 Kyphosis - excessive kyphotic curve | Lordosis * excessive lordotic curve | Scoliosis - lateral 0:20:05.520,0:20:14.320 curvature | Kyphoscoliosis - combination of kyphosis and lordosis 0:20:14.320,0:20:21.920 Sacral Plexus vis-à-vis Sacral Chakra: Sacral plexus is a nerve plexus comprising 0:20:21.920,0:20:29.200 sensory and motor nerves for the pelvis (partly), posterior thigh, lower leg and foot. 0:20:29.840,0:20:36.080 It originates at the lumbar and sacral vertebrae namely L4 - S4. 0:20:36.080,0:20:41.200 It is a formation that comprises: The lumbosacral trunk | The anterior division 0:20:41.200,0:20:48.960 of the first sacral nerve | Parts of the anterior divisions of the 2nd and 3rd sacral nerves 0:20:48.960,0:20:53.520 The nerves of the sacral plexus meet at the greater sciatic foramen making 0:20:53.520,0:20:59.920 a flattened band there. From here, new branches turn into the sciatic nerve, 0:20:59.920,0:21:05.760 ultimately splitting into the tibial and fibular nerves in the posterior thigh. 0:21:05.760,0:21:11.280 Sacral plexus is positioned at the back of the pelvis and is fed by the superior and 0:21:11.280,0:21:18.000 inferior gluteal arteries and veins. A closed sacral chakra happens when 0:21:18.000,0:21:22.480 the nerves in the sacral plexus are subjected to long-term compression. 0:21:23.200,0:21:28.320 It takes place through the dropping of the sacral vertebrae and the resulting distortion of the 0:21:28.320,0:21:35.440 lower S of the double S shaped vertebral column. Constant compression of the sacral plexus results 0:21:35.440,0:21:41.200 in the suppression of the aesthetic of our instinctual structure. The roles of the root 0:21:41.200,0:21:48.560 chakra and the sacral chakra are just the opposite of each other. The root chakra takes care of the 0:21:48.560,0:21:56.560 basic survival and material safety or security. Conversely, the sacral chakra is concerned with 0:21:56.560,0:22:04.720 whatever is beautiful in life and gives it meaning. Its concerns, including curiosity, 0:22:04.720,0:22:12.320 creativity, sexual drive and potency, fill the pursuit of life with joy and passion. 0:22:13.040,0:22:18.560 Symptoms that point to the existence of the sacral chakra, including all kinds of sexual 0:22:18.560,0:22:25.760 problems like premature ejaculation, impotence, ejaculatory incompetence, 0:22:25.760,0:22:33.200 orgasmic dysfunction, vaginismus, frigidity and a poor sex performance owing to the lack of a 0:22:33.200,0:22:41.760 mature orgasm in men and women are all lifestyle diseases that stem from a closed sacral chakra. 0:22:41.760,0:22:47.840 A constantly compressed sacral plexus afflicts the sexual process with various types of sexual 0:22:47.840,0:22:53.360 dysfunctions. But once the compression is released through raising the sacral 0:22:53.360,0:23:00.320 vertebrae up in the vertebral column, they start getting relieved. Then, it is just a question 0:23:00.320,0:23:07.840 of keeping the vertebral column raised at its sacral region by making it one’s first nature. 0:23:07.840,0:23:14.800 There is a caveat here. The sacral chakra cannot be effectively opened until and unless 0:23:14.800,0:23:23.120 the root chakra below it is already opened. Solar Plexus vis-à-vis Solar Plexus Chakra: 0:23:23.120,0:23:29.680 The solar plexus aka celiac plexus is located in the vicinity of the thoracic 0:23:29.680,0:23:36.320 diaphragm near the first lumbar vertebra in the vertebral column. It comprises: 0:23:36.960,0:23:42.400 Splanchnic nerves - paired visceral nerves with fibers from autonomic nervous system 0:23:42.400,0:23:50.320 and organs innervating visceral organs | Anterior vagal trunk - a branch of 0:23:50.320,0:23:58.000 the vagus nerve with fibers from the left vagus primarily | Posterior vagal 0:23:58.000,0:24:04.480 trunk - a branch of vagus nerve with fibers from the right vagus primarily 0:24:04.480,0:24:09.120 Solar plexus also comprises smaller plexuses within, namely: 0:24:09.120,0:24:15.920 Hepatic plexus - receiving filaments from left vagus and right phrenic nerves | Splenic 0:24:15.920,0:24:22.720 plexus - formed by the left celiac ganglion and the right vagus nerve | Gastric plexus - joining 0:24:22.720,0:24:28.240 branches from the left vagus nerve | Pancreatic plexus - another solar plexus 0:24:28.240,0:24:37.360 division | Suprarenal plexus - receiving branches from the celiac ganglion and splanchnic nerves 0:24:37.360,0:24:42.720 Solar plexus chakra arises from the L1 vertebra being dropped and tucked in, 0:24:42.720,0:24:46.720 thereby compressing the thoracic diaphragm along its length. 0:24:47.440,0:24:53.600 A closed solar plexus chakra acutely disturbs the breathing pattern, turning it shallow and 0:24:53.600,0:25:00.960 speedier. It makes one prone to breathing-related illnesses. As a result, diffidence creeps into 0:25:00.960,0:25:07.760 one’s persona causing one to lose their spirit of interaction, adventure and initiative. 0:25:08.480,0:25:13.360 Belly fat leading to obesity, lower back pain, and breathing problems, 0:25:13.360,0:25:20.640 including asthmatic symptoms, are the lifestyle diseases that stem from the solar plexus chakra. 0:25:20.640,0:25:25.440 The way to open the solar plexus chakra is simply to remove its compression by raising 0:25:25.440,0:25:34.080 the L1 up and out. It further pronounces the lower S of the double S shape in the vertebral column. 0:25:34.080,0:25:41.360 Once we have learnt how to effectively do this, we just need to make it our first nature. 0:25:41.360,0:25:48.560 There is a caveat here. Solar plexus chakra cannot be effectively opened unless the root chakra and 0:25:48.560,0:25:56.560 the sacral chakra below it are already opened. Pectoral Muscles vis-à-vis Heart Chakra: 0:25:56.560,0:26:02.560 Innervated by the lateral pectoral nerve (C5 - C7) and the medial pectoral nerve (C8 - T1), pectoral 0:26:02.560,0:26:07.520 muscles have two parts: Pectoralis major - flexes, 0:26:07.520,0:26:15.040 extends and rotates humerus | Pectoralis minor - stabilizes the scapula 0:26:15.040,0:26:19.920 The pectoralis major is a thick, fan-shaped convergent muscle located 0:26:19.920,0:26:26.800 in the chest. Its functions are flexion, extension and rotation of the humerus. 0:26:26.800,0:26:30.720 It performs four movements for the shoulder joint: 0:26:32.080,0:26:38.960 Flexion of the humerus like in heavy weight lifting while doing biceps curls | Adduction 0:26:38.960,0:26:44.800 of the humerus like in arm-flapping | Rotating the humerus medially like in 0:26:44.800,0:26:52.720 arm-wrestling | Keeping arms attached to torso like in military “attention” posture 0:26:53.440,0:26:58.720 Out of the above four actions, only the second one keeps its associated 0:26:58.720,0:27:05.600 vertebral upper S shape intact at the C8 - T1 vertebrae. The same holds good for the 0:27:05.600,0:27:13.520 C5 - C7 vertebrae. The remaining three tend to turn it into an inverted C shape. Also, 0:27:13.520,0:27:19.120 when we stretch our body for relaxation, it performs the second action alone. 0:27:19.760,0:27:24.960 Hence, it is logical to deduce that the second action is the most relaxed state 0:27:24.960,0:27:31.360 of the muscle. When we make it our first nature, it keeps the heart chakra open. 0:27:31.360,0:27:38.000 But when we keep it postured like in any of the other three actions, it closes the heart chakra. 0:27:38.000,0:27:45.200 It does so by turning the upper S shape of the C8 - T1 vertebrae into an inverted C shape. 0:27:45.760,0:27:51.440 The pectoralis minor is a thin, triangular muscle located in the upper chest under the 0:27:51.440,0:27:58.160 pectoralis major muscle, which is innervated by the medial pectoral nerve (C8 - T1) alone. Same 0:27:58.160,0:28:03.440 is true about the pectoralis minor which is also able to stabilize scapulae when 0:28:03.440,0:28:08.000 postured like in the aforementioned second action of the shoulder joint. 0:28:08.560,0:28:12.960 This second action is also the one that we adopt for hugging someone. 0:28:12.960,0:28:18.080 And that is how we know that an open heart chakra is concerned most with love, 0:28:18.080,0:28:24.000 kindness and compassion. If it is closed, it leads to narrowness of the heart, 0:28:24.000,0:28:30.560 keeping us emotionally/ passionately isolated from our fellow beings on earth. 0:28:31.360,0:28:36.080 Symptoms that point to the existence of a closed heart chakra, like high blood 0:28:36.080,0:28:41.520 pressure or hypertension, heart attack and heart failure, are all lifestyle 0:28:41.520,0:28:48.240 diseases that stem from the heart chakra. There is again a caveat here. Do you see a 0:28:48.240,0:28:55.360 pattern repeating? The heart chakra cannot be effectively opened unless the root, sacral and 0:28:55.360,0:29:03.680 solar plexus chakras below it are already opened. Deltoid Muscle vis-à-vis Throat Chakra: 0:29:03.680,0:29:10.800 Innervated by the auxiliary nerve from the anterior rami of the cervical nerves at C5 and C6, 0:29:10.800,0:29:17.840 the deltoid is located on the shoulder. It comprises three sets of muscle fibers: 0:29:18.880,0:29:23.840 Anterior (clavicular) - fibers assist pectoralis major to flex the 0:29:23.840,0:29:32.640 shoulder | Posterior (scapular) - fibers assist latissimus dorsi to extend the shoulder like in 0:29:32.640,0:29:41.040 rowing movements | Intermediate (acromial) * fibers perform shoulder abduction 0:29:41.040,0:29:48.960 Out of these three, only the posterior or scapular fibers keep their associated vertebral upper S 0:29:48.960,0:29:57.120 shape intact at the C5 and C6 vertebrae. The other two tend to turn it into an inverted 0:29:57.120,0:30:06.160 C shape. Also, when we stretch our body for relaxation, the posterior fibers perform alone. 0:30:06.160,0:30:12.240 Hence it is logical to deduce that the action by the posterior fibers is the 0:30:12.240,0:30:17.280 most relaxed state of the muscle. When we make it our first nature, 0:30:17.280,0:30:22.720 it keeps the throat chakra open. But when we keep it postured in 0:30:22.720,0:30:29.280 any other way, it closes the throat chakra. It does so by turning the upper S shape of 0:30:29.280,0:30:37.680 the C5 - C6 vertebrae into an inverted C shape. The action by the posterior fibers is also the one 0:30:37.680,0:30:44.160 that brings the top ends of the scapulae closest to each other. It also aligns the collarbones 0:30:44.160,0:30:51.920 along the neck giving it a 180o mobility to move freely. And this freedom that the head experiences 0:30:51.920,0:30:58.320 on the neck facilitates the opening of the throat chakra, which then becomes ready to open the 0:30:58.320,0:31:05.520 next chakras (i.e. the ones in the skull). It opens our pathways to intelligence and logical 0:31:05.520,0:31:13.440 communication. But if it is closed, it corrupts our communication and logical comprehension. 0:31:14.160,0:31:21.280 Symptoms of the throat chakra include diabetes, hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. 0:31:21.280,0:31:28.080 As usual, there is the same caveat here as well. You guessed it right! The throat 0:31:28.080,0:31:34.320 chakra cannot be effectively opened unless the root, sacral, solar plexus 0:31:34.320,0:31:43.200 and heart chakras below it are already opened. Skull vis-à-vis Third Eye and Crown Chakras: 0:31:43.200,0:31:49.440 The skull of the Homo sapiens is freely balanced on the vertebral column at its first vertebra 0:31:49.440,0:31:56.640 named Atlas, denoted together by the letter C (for cervical) and the number 1 (for first) as 0:31:56.640,0:32:04.960 C1. Occipital condyles maintain the balance of the vertebral column dynamically. This is 0:32:04.960,0:32:12.320 the main reason a human head can be postured erect even without the prominent supraorbital ridges and 0:32:12.320,0:32:20.720 strong muscular attachments that are necessary in apes. As a result, the occipitofrontalis 0:32:20.720,0:32:27.280 (frontalis and occipitalis) muscles are only used for facial expressions and central fixation of the 0:32:27.280,0:32:35.280 eyes. The spinal cord, as an extension of the medulla oblongata, enters the vertebral column 0:32:35.280,0:32:42.960 through foramen magnum, an occipital bone opening. The size of the human brain has also played a 0:32:42.960,0:32:50.400 very big role in bipedal evolution. It is 3-4 times larger for its body size than that of its 0:32:50.400,0:32:57.920 nearest evolutionary relative, the chimpanzee. The skull acts as a protective cavity for the 0:32:57.920,0:33:06.320 brain. It houses the majority of the sense organs including eyes, ears, nose and tongue. 0:33:06.320,0:33:12.880 It has two parts to it, the neurocranium and membraneous viscerocranium with the mandible 0:33:12.880,0:33:20.720 as the latter’s largest bone. Numerous flat bones are fused together as sutures to give the human 0:33:20.720,0:33:28.640 skull its shape. The mandible is the only major movable bone that engages with the neurocranium 0:33:28.640,0:33:34.800 via the temporomandibular joints. In all, the skull has 22 bones in 0:33:34.800,0:33:43.600 it. Out of these, eight are the cranial bones: Occipital bone | Temporal bones (2) | Parietal 0:33:43.600,0:33:49.440 bones (2) | Sphenoid bone | Ethmoid bone | Frontal bone 0:33:50.160,0:33:53.040 There are 14 more bones in the facial skeleton: 0:33:53.920,0:34:01.600 Vomer | Inferior nasal conchae (2) | Nasal bones (2) | Maxilla (2) | Mandible | Palatine 0:34:01.600,0:34:07.120 bones (2) | Zygomatic bones (2) | Lacrimal bones (2) 0:34:07.120,0:34:12.080 Also, there are paranasal sinuses (air-filled cavities lined with 0:34:12.080,0:34:18.960 respiratory epithelium) and numerous foramina (openings in the skull). 0:34:18.960,0:34:25.360 In episode 21, I had written about the third eye chakra and the crown chakra coming into 0:34:25.360,0:34:31.360 existence due to bipedal evolution. I had also explained how to open them by 0:34:31.360,0:34:36.880 maneuvering the temporomandibular joints. You will also find a full account of the 0:34:36.880,0:34:43.280 only movable temporomandibular joints in the skull there. I had described it there in the 0:34:43.280,0:34:49.520 context of how the mind got structured and could be emptied. You can go back 0:34:49.520,0:34:56.400 and check these if you need to refresh their description in context of this episode again. 0:34:57.200,0:35:01.760 Symptoms that point to the existence of the third eye and crown chakras 0:35:01.760,0:35:09.600 mainly include problems in one’s vision, chronic headaches and signs of stress. 0:35:09.600,0:35:16.320 An open third eye chakra is characterized by a sharp perception. Similarly an open crown chakra 0:35:16.320,0:35:23.600 is characterized by a deep insight into life. The two of them are very similar to each other 0:35:23.600,0:35:29.040 with only one difference between them. An open crown chakra can see the macro view 0:35:29.040,0:35:34.880 of what an open third eye chakra can see only the micro version. In other words, 0:35:34.880,0:35:44.160 what an open third eye chakra can see in one single degree, the crown chakra does in 270o. 0:35:44.160,0:35:51.280 In fact, as I discovered, there are two types of visual central fixation possible. 0:35:51.280,0:35:58.400 One is associated with an open third eye chakra alone, providing a crystal clear, bright and sharp 0:35:58.400,0:36:06.080 tunnel vision aka perception. It is achieved by relaxing the frontalis muscle while accommodating 0:36:06.080,0:36:13.440 with the help of occipitalis. Everything outside of this tunnel is blurred and dull. 0:36:13.440,0:36:20.480 The other one is associated with both, an open crown chakra and an open third eye chakra. This 0:36:20.480,0:36:27.840 central fixation provides a crystal clear, bright, sharp and wide vision including peripheral vision, 0:36:27.840,0:36:35.840 perception as well as empathy. It is achieved by relaxing both, the frontalis and the temporalis 0:36:35.840,0:36:42.720 muscles while accommodating with the help of occipitalis. In my personal opinion, this has been 0:36:42.720,0:36:49.920 my biggest discovery in the chakra discipline. In the second type of central fixation, the eyes 0:36:49.920,0:36:58.640 turn extraordinarily bright and empathetically shiny. I call this shine the real ‘smize’. 0:36:58.640,0:37:04.640 Also, the sharpness of the eyesight is closely linked with an insight into life. The brain’s 0:37:04.640,0:37:11.360 perception needs to be aided by the recording tool that is a sharp eye. In other words, 0:37:11.360,0:37:15.840 a clear vision in the eye leads to a clear worldview as well. 0:37:16.640,0:37:25.040 Therefore, we must really say that our eyes are the real windows to the brain and not to the mind! 0:37:25.040,0:37:29.600 That is why the third eye chakra has been assigned two iconic petals whereas 0:37:29.600,0:37:34.880 the crown chakra has been assigned full one thousand! And that is why the crown 0:37:34.880,0:37:41.760 chakra is called the king of all chakras. Let’s not forget that same caveat here! 0:37:41.760,0:37:48.400 The crown chakra cannot be effectively opened unless third eye chakra is already opened. Also, 0:37:48.400,0:37:54.640 the third eye chakra cannot be effectively opened unless the throat chakra is opened. 0:37:54.640,0:38:00.560 Thanks for listening to this episode of Skeletal Leap: A Living Adventure! 0:38:00.560,0:38:05.840 In the next episode, I will tell you about an unintended evidence 0:38:05.840,0:38:12.880 strengthening the skeletal chakra hypothesis via achieving central fixation of the eyes. 0:38:12.880,0:38:16.800 Be a part of Skeletal Leap Community!
