Descripción

This is part 2 of my story of my mother, Setsuko Yayoshi Rowlands.  Our story continues from Episode 8 (part 1) of this incredible journey for my mom.  She was constantly re-inventing herself to survive in each unique life situation she found herself in.  In this case, her story continues as she grapples with a gay daughter newly out to her and a terminal illness that would eventually require a many hours of in-home care.  How Mom and I came to know each other and came to finally accept and love each other is the miracle of this story.  Have a listen!  Best 20 minutes of your life today!

My Mom, Setsuko Yayoshi, the Great Re-Inventor. Part 1

Welcome to our podcast, so damn interesting where you will find authentic and unfiltered interviews and stories.  I'm Tio E your host and I'm a half-Japanese, queer, bipolar Jesus follower.  All that gives me an interesting perspective on life.  In this episode, we follow my mom's journey from a young girl in Niigata Japan, to her years during the war and moving to America.  We will see how she recreated her life in many different situations so she could simply survive.  And then her move to Arkansas to live with me, a queer daughter who wasn't out to her yet.  All of these last changes at the age of 80.  It's a remarkable story and it continues in Episode 9 so you'll have to be sure to join us for that.  Join us on her journey!  You're gonna love it!

Jesus and the Queer Me

This is the so damn interesting podcast and I am your host, Tio E.  I bring you authentic and interesting stories, interviews, opinion pieces and creative writing every month or so.  Things that are, well, so damn interesting! I'm a half Japanese, bipolar, queer, jesus follower and all of that adds up to a pretty unique perspective on life.  This episode is a continuation from Episode 6 which was the journey of my christian beliefs from evangelical fundamentalist believer to one of a more expansive and inclusive God.  In this episode I go into how being a queer person in 2008 changes my perspective.  How I began to live fully into my faith as a queer Christian.  And it sure is so damn interesting.  Please join me!  I think you'll be glad you did.

The Bipolar Adventure - at the beginning and in the hospital

Welcome to my podcast, so damn interesting.  I am Tio E, your host.  I am a bipolar, half-Japanese, queer woman of faith who is out wrestling this world head on.  I love sharing my life with you and you can imagine it is pretty interesting for someone with all those monikers.  Today's episode will do something that I said I would never ever do.  That is, I am going to feature my bipolar disease for the entirety of the episode.  I never wanted to do this because I never wanted to be pigeon-holed into just one part of my life.  I never wanted to be "that bipolar girl'.  And also because I feel that once someone discovers you are bipolar, they suddenly view every single thing about you through that bipolar lens.  However, so many of you responded to my last episode and what I talked about in my bipolar life that I decided to share more about that.  Particularly because people had lots of questions for me.  People found the discussions with Cynthia (my partner) to be so helpful.  So, yes! Cynthia is back and joins me for the entire episode.  I hope you'll give us a listen.  We talk about what it was like for Cynthia to discover I was bipolar and then we spend a good bit of time talking about my psychiatric hospitalization in 2015. Please join us!  We welcome your comments and suggestions at my email -- so.damn.interesting@gmail.com
