Descripción

While we struggle to afford rent, utilities, and gas for our cars, the wealthy and well-connected continue to prosper. It all thanks to politicians in charge who want to cater to their wealthy donors more than everyday people. Here at Something’s Gotta Give, I discuss hot topic issues from a leftist perspective but also I take a closer look at local politics and the role they play in upholding corporate welfare and capitalism. In my hometown of Tallahassee, Florida over half of the city are renters who pay half or more of their income on rent. Companies with a lot of money come in, buy up homes and land with no competition then raise the rents. Oftentimes these developments uproot historically black communities. Tallahassee deserves better. We ALL deserve better and it’s time for these politicians to either get with it or go home. I hope through storytelling and conversation we can hold those in office accountable for their choices, then organize and vote accordingly in these elections. It’s us vs them and Something’s Gotta Give.
