Why you don't "need" a partner

Recently I have heard several people say they’re not interested in dating because they don’t “need” a partner. The comment represents the (old, often subconscious) belief that relationships are founded on need, not desire. You’re not supposed to “need” a relationship. The very word indicates codependent patterns within oneself. Need indicates lack. Desire comes from a place of fullness.
