Special Needs Planning: The Podcast
Paul is a part-time Departmental Lecturer in Taxation Law atthe University of Oxford following a career focussed on corporate financial advisory work - spending much of the last 18 years of his executive career advising defined benefit pension scheme trustees on financial aspects of therelationship between the scheme and its sponsoring employers. He also works for a professional pension trustee company. Paul is father of a young person with special needs and in2023 completed a part-time PhD addressing the question "Is the UK tax system effective in supporting disabled people?". The concept for the simplified savings account discussed in the Tax Law Review Committee of the IFS paper was set out in Paul's PhD, alongside a review of disability trusts - and he has been delighted to able to develop it in the Tax Law Review Committee paper, drawing on input from a number of specialist colleagues.
