SPED Legacy
In this episode, John talked to Dr. John Lloyd who was the President of the Division for Research from 1996-1997. Before retiring, Dr. Lloyd was a professor at the University of Virginia, which is where I had the opportunity to know him. He is a leader in the field of learning disabilities and is committed to identifying evidence-based practices for students who struggled to learn. He is currently finishing a term as co-editor of Exceptional Children. In this conversation he discussed what he described as the de-institutionalization of schools, how his perspective on learning styles changed, and the importance of how we know what we know in special education research.
