Friendship is Life

As we continue on this journey called life, none of us can do this alone. We don't do it alone, and friendship is a powerful force for us. We have friends in every aspect of our lives,  and for that, I'm grateful. How do you show friendship? How do you receive friendship? When you think about your friends do they bring you peace, if not, you should consider friend inventory. Friendship is life, and life with friends is a beautiful thing.  The Start From Now Podcast shares short bursts of ideas and encouragement for people in personal and professional transition. For the month of October, the Start From Now podcast will feature interviews with people who have worked through significant, and totally unanticipated transitions in their lives. I'm just getting starting on this podcast journey, so I appreciate you joining me.  A little bit about me:  2020 disrupted me in such a way that I reconsidered almost every aspect of my life. I knew I needed to do something different, but I didn't know what or how to start. I didn't talk about my feelings, but I knew I needed change, that I needed to create my change and that I needed to stay changed. It can be demoralizing to know that you need something different but don't know where or how to start.  I was there, and I met so many people who felt the same way. I decided to allow that disruption to be a starting place for creating my plan and in 2020, I founded Excellence in Empowerment with my sister. Excellence in Empowerment helps you design your future self, today. I'm now an executive coach and, very simply, I help people who feel stuck, move forward. I help leaders and rising leaders who need to conquer the feelings of the being overwhelmed in new and upcoming positions, and I help individuals work through life changes. Perspective Flexibility Flow

We have plans. Detailed plans with everything in place. Then, something happens to change those plans. What do you do? Be mindful of your perspective. Be flexible. Flow with the situation. It will work out. Whether you are planning an event or stranded in a foreign country, your perspective, flexibility and flow will get you where you need to be. Be the Pivot

Situations cause us to pivot and change course. However, have you thought about being the pivot? Pivot can mean to turn or it can mean the the person, thing, or factor having a major or central role, function, or effect. It May Be Cliche: But if you believe it, you can achieve it It - An Interview with Travis Jones

What do you do when you hit rock bottom? The bottom is different for everyone, but when you feel like there is you may never get out of a hole, you need to find a way to look up, get up and get moving.  Travis Jones did just that.  After a felony conviction, divorce, losing his job, foreclosure and being so far behind in his child support that he risked going to jail, he decided that he wanted change. He asked for help, and slowly began to believe that he could achieve what he wanted. Today he is no longer a convicted felony, his record is expunged, he is no longer behind his child support, and he owns a trucking company with two trucks. He knows it may cliche, but Travis encourages that if you believe, you can achieve it.  What's your story. How did it develop? We control very little of our lives, but we have full control over how we respond. It is how we respond during our experiences that create our stories. The beautiful thing about stories is that how you maneuver a transition in your life will help other people.  Your story can inspire or bring calm or help give others options on how to work through situations or how not to work through situations.  The honest sharing of your story will help someone else. Mrs. Dollye Smith is a cancer survivor who, after being diagnosed with breast cancer at 65 years old she determined that she was a miracle child and lived accordingly.  In this episode Miss Dollye talks to us about her journey to beat cancer, the positive attitude she kept, and how after 5 years she is still learning to be herself and to be kind to herself.  I am so appreciative to have this wonderful woman as my mother.
