Sunday School | Abraham and Isaac

June 14, 2026  God gives Abraham the unbelievable task of presenting his son Isaac as a burnt offering. He stops Abraham just in time, presenting him with a substitute and letting Isaac live. This moment of dramatic obedience became part of the story of redemption that led to the sacrifice of God’s son himself. May 31, 2026  Is it bad for us to desire success? Success is not a bad thing. Being successful is a way for the believer to glorify God because your success is a sign that you’re good at what you do! In fact, Scripture says we should work heartily for the Lord no matter who we’re working for. Our successes become a vehicle for us to glorify God. Success becomes problematic for the believer when we start to find our identity and our value in our successes. May 24, 2026  From the perspective of the control freak, we look at control as a way of having peace of mind – we’re just trying to reduce the chaos in our life. However, our need for control runs much deeper than having peace of mind; our need for control is really about authority. We want to be in charge of the outcomes, we want to dictate the terms of our situation, and we want to ultimately decide what we will do with our time. This kind of control is an attempt to keep our faith safe and comfortable. This need for approval becomes our idol as we trade the glory of God, for the glory of man. The idol of approval leads us away from pleasing God, as we strive to please others.
