Title: God Is Angry Text: 2 Samuel 24:1-15 Proposition: Sowing sin reaps serious consequences. Interrogative: Is God angry with my sin? In this sermon, Pastor Tim Lewis delves into one of King David’s biggest mistakes found in 2 Samuel chapter 24. He recounts how David ordered a census of Israel and Judah, which was a huge sin. Pastor Lewis explains that while 2 Samuel doesn’t say who tricked David into doing this, 1 Chronicles 21:1 reveals it was Satan, trying to make David feel too proud. God was furious with both David and Israel, who were also feeling proud after a string of victories. Despite Joab’s good advice against the census, David’s pride got the better of him, and things went horribly wrong. After David admitted his sin and asked God for mercy, God gave him three options, and David chose to trust God. As a result, 70,000 people died from a terrible plague. This shows that God forgives sins, but there are always consequences. Pastor Lewis emphasizes the importance of being humble and avoiding pride, and he encourages everyone to listen to God’s word and not keep repeating the same mistakes.
