Surf Report - Ocean City MD Beaches
Good morning, this is your Monday morning surf report for the Virginia and North Carolina beaches brought to you by the National Weather Service. We're looking at a beautiful start to the week across the region, with mostly sunny skies and very high UV conditions across all our beaches. You'll want to slather on that sunscreen before heading out. Let's start up north with Maryland's Ocean City and Assateague beaches. We're expecting two to three foot waves this morning with northwest winds at ten to fifteen miles per hour. It's going to be pleasant with highs in the upper seventies. The rip current risk is low, though remember that life-threatening rips can develop near piers and jetties even on low risk days. High tide at Ocean City Pier comes in at eight oh six in the morning with low tide at two oh nine in the afternoon. Water temperatures are sitting in the upper sixties. Moving down to Virginia's Eastern Shore, Chincoteague, Wallops Island, and the barrier islands are looking similar with two to three foot surf and northwest winds ten to fifteen. The water here is a bit warmer though, hovering around seventy degrees. High tide at Wachapreague is nine fifteen in the morning, low at three twelve in the afternoon. Over at Virginia Beach and Sandbridge, we've got two to three foot waves with slightly stronger northwest winds around fifteen miles per hour. Water temperatures in the lower seventies. Virginia Beach hits high tide at eight twenty three in the morning, low at two eighteen in the afternoon. Finally, the Outer Banks up at Currituck are running around two feet with a slight chance of showers mixed in today. Northwest winds becoming northerly this afternoon. It'll be upper seventies for highs with lower seventies water temperatures. Now let's look ahead. Tuesday stays mostly sunny across the board with smaller surf around two feet. Conditions will be pleasant but a touch cooler in the lower to mid seventies. Wednesday brings a shift. We'll see partly sunny skies with a chance of showers moving in. Surf stays around two feet. Winds begin turning more southerly as a weather system approaches. Thursday is your big day if you're chasing waves. Surf builds to two to four feet across most locations, and we could see some occasional five foot sets, particularly up at Maryland. Mostly sunny skies and building heat with highs pushing into the eighties and even lower nineties down at Virginia Beach. South to southwest winds around fifteen to twenty miles per hour. Juneteenth Friday things get unsettled. Showers and thunderstorms move in across the region. Surf holds two to four feet with mostly cloudy skies. Highs in the low to mid eighties. Winds shift to the west around ten to fifteen miles per hour. The bottom line? Enjoy the next couple of days with gentle waves and sunshine. Thursday looks like your best day for some action in the water before the system moves through Friday. Stay safe out there and watch out for those hidden rips near structures.
