Episode 66: Sing, O Barren One

Stories matter! My story, your story, your cities story, the Old Testament stories and the collective story of the Body of Christ, they all matter. We know in Scripture that Jesus taught His disciples by speaking in parables. What is a parable? It is a story. Hebrews 13:8 tells us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. With that truth in mind, let’s ask some questions. Does Jesus still teach His disciples by speaking in parables? Could the stories of our lives be the parables by which He teaches us? If we choose to see our stories through the lens of the Lord’s perspective He will show us how He has been with us from the beginning and how each of our stories can be used to teach us who He is. The Lord is faithful and has been revealing Himself to you through all the moments of your life. In this episode we explore the importance of having a willingness to surrender every moment to Him, and to declare that there are no coincidences. Together, let’s ask the Lord to grant us a willing spirit to trust that He has been teaching us about Himself from the beginning, with the purpose of revealing to us, His children, who He is and who we are in Him. Paul emphasizes that our struggles are not against flesh and blood, but rather against the rulers, principalities, and powers of the heavenly realm. Paul’s description of our adversaries can be linked back to the gods of the nations referenced in Deuteronomy 32 and Psalm 82. Recognizing the identity and role of these spiritual beings is foundational for how we approach spiritual warfare. It also shapes our understanding of the Day of the Lord, as both are influenced by the dynamics described in these Biblical texts.
