As the club are buzzing to get the season started, we got some insight from Steven about what the club consider about looking after their players off the field and also about player welfare in the current game compared to when he was a player. On our latest episode, ambassador and regular podcast host Jason McGinn swapped seats to give us an insight into he became involved with Back Onside. During the conversation, we hear about some of the challenges that Jason has taken on to help raise funds and awareness for the charity and also about his mental health journey and how it has affected him personally, as well as how running and Back Onside have helped him. Ambassador Jason catches up with professional footballer Jack Purdue along with charity founder, Libby. Jack has become a friend of the charity having played with Annan Athletic, where Libby holds a role at the club. Jack suffered a horrendous injury which he was supported through and here he gives an insight into how it affected him and his recovery including how Back Onside supported him through this. Jack is about to embark on a new stage of his career as he is travelling to Australia to live and play. Give the episode a listen to hear all about it! We caught up with Scottish Professional footballer Gary Fraser in what turned out to be a very open, honest and at times, emotional chat about his life and career. Gary is currently playing with Peterhead Football Club and during this chat, we got to speak about how he nearly moved to Bolton at 18 years old, the impact his family had on his life and also a very raw and heart felt account of an incident that still has an impact on Gary. It was brilliant to hear his story and it's easy to see how he has been so well supported through his injury worries as he is such a genuine and truly decent guy!
