Growing Our Capacities in the 5 Critical Dimensions of our lives

In this episode, we delve into the topic of personal growth and explore the different areas in which we can develop our capacities. We look at five critical components of our lives: spiritual, social, mental, psychological, and physical. Starting with spirituality, we discuss the importance of connecting with something greater than ourselves, whether that be a higher power, nature, or a sense of purpose. We explore ways in which we can deepen our spiritual practices, such as meditation, prayer, or mindfulness. Moving on to social growth, we examine the ways in which our relationships with others can help us develop as individuals. We discuss the importance of communication, empathy, and self-awareness in building healthy relationships and fostering personal growth. In the mental capacity, we discuss the power of the mind and how we can develop our cognitive abilities through challenging ourselves, learning, and problem-solving. We explore the role of the neocortex and pre-frontal cortex in growing our mental capacity. And we touch on the role neuroplasticity plays in allowing us to expand our capacity in order to foster creativity, critical thinking, and self-reflection. Next, we look at physical growth, exploring ways in which we can improve our overall health and well-being through exercise, nutrition, and self-care. We discuss the benefits of a balanced lifestyle and the impact it can have on our overall well-being. Finally, we examine the psychological aspect of personal growth, looking at ways in which we can improve our emotional intelligence, manage stress and anxiety, and cultivate resilience. We also discuss the importance of seeking help when necessary, such as through therapy or counseling. Throughout the episode, we highlight the interconnectedness of these different areas of personal growth and the ways in which they can complement each other. We also provide practical tips and strategies for developing our capacities in each of these areas, encouraging listeners to embark on a journey of continuous self-improvement.

Reflect to appreciate or change

With everything and everyone competing for our attention nowadays, one thing that easily skips our attention or left out of our to-do list or even totally pushed aside to be done later is a serious self-reflection. Reflection does take time but it is absolutely necessary. The majority of us go without a pause to look back to assess how far we've come year to year let alone week to week or even month to month. Reflection can lead us to appreciate our progress or lead us to change the direction we are heading toward, both of which are essential for purposeful living. In this week's podcast, Dhor looked back upon his life to examine how he has been able to manage himself throughout the years in this world out of his control.  Throughout this episode, you will hear Dhor's personal reflection on the attributes he observed from his early childhood and the touch on some of the attributes he has developed over the years as he transcends to the next version of himself.

The 4 key attributes necessary to navigate your way through the unknown and difficult challenges

We all take many roads in our lives some of which might be roads less traveled. These roads might be the decisions we made or the actual roads or obstacles we encountered. And the more road/decisions you make, the more lessons you learn along the way. I am no different in that regard; for me, leaving my home country South Sudan for Kenya at 10 years young, leaving Kenya for Australia, and taking other roads along the way are a few of those roads I traveled.  Despite the differences in the path taken for each journey, one thing is for certain, every road we took taught us something about life and played a significant part in shaping the person we became today.  In 2016, I went to Mexico where I learned a universe worth of knowledge about myself, and life in general.  On the same journey was a friend of mine, Isham, whom I met in Mexico. Isham is from Sudan & England and currently lives in the UK. As our first guest on The After Flow Glow Podcast, I set down with Isham to discuss The 4 key attributes necessary to help us navigate through the unknown spaces and new difficult changes in life. Tune in to find out more. Also, check out the plan for the year on our website: www.afterflowglow.com, as well as ways you can support our channel.
