The Against Crony Capitalism Podcast
Sam Altman says that AI is essentially Too Big To Fail. In the end, if an AI bubble bursts, the US government will be there to bail the industry out. He and and his buddies will be insulated. Nothing to worry about. It is this kind of attitude that makes many young (and not so young) people throw up their hands in exasperation. If the crony system, essentially socialist capitalism for the rich and the connected, is structured to make the rich richer via the state, why not look to the state to provide basic needs? If capitalism means cronyism (it doesn’t, but this is the perception of many) why not vote to get one’s (meager) piece of the pie just like the connected guys? This is the kind of thinking that motivated many of the people who voted for Mamdani on Tuesday. They made what can be considered a rational choice. This is a public episode.
