Artist Interview - Tessa Garland & Dylan Ricards: Between Worlds

Today we speak with Tessa Garland of London and Dylan Ricards of Los Angeles about their recent collaboration for "Resolution," presented by Artists in Arms & Torrance Art Museum in London. Both Garland and Ricards create with the intention of discovery and play at heart, installing intricate and surreal works that match an ecological focus with a dreamlike world. "Between Worlds" is a collaborative sculptural installation by Ricards and Garland. Blurring the boundaries between reality and fiction, the work explores the layering of time, site, and material to examine the traces humans leave on both natural and built environments."Resolution" was an exhibition bringing together artists from London and Los Angeles at the turn of the year, a time shaped by shifting political realities and suspended between intentions and outcomes. Artist Interview: Dani Dodge & Sandy Layton: Unresolved absence

Today we speak with Dani Dodge of Los Angeles and Sandy Layton of London about their recent collaboration for Resolution, presented by Artists in Arms & Torrance Art Museum in London. Both Dodge and Layton have backgrounds that required adept perception into the human experience. Now as artists, they explore the meaning of relationships. Dodge has a surrealist play with material in her work, and Layton forms clay into a balance of structure and movement. Unresolved absence: A meditation on stability and longing is a collaborative work by Dodge and Layton depicting various unstable chairs. Artist Interview: Erika Trotzig - The Unmonumental

Today we speak with Erika Trotzig, a London-based artist currently on show at the Torrance Art Museum (TAM) in Torrance, California, for Special Relationships. Trotzig began in fashion, viewing each individual as a sculpture itself but began creating found-materials sculptures to tell a broader story on failure as a methodology. Through constructing teetering sculptures, Trotzig finds the balance of precarity to be a statement itself against the motto of continual progress. Continuing out partnership with the Torrance Art Museum (TAM) in Torrance, California, we bring you our conversation with Zavier Ellis, a UK-based artist presenting a solo show at TAM titled Sites of Conflict. Zavier draws on the immense history of protest movements and surveys the patterns that emerge through the use of slogans, leaders, signs, and walls. Sites of Conflict opens during a prescient time in Los Angeles, as widespread protests have occurred across the city and nation against immigration raids.
