The Artscene
Continuing out partnership with the Torrance Art Museum (TAM) in Torrance, California, we bring you our conversation with Zavier Ellis, a UK-based artist presenting a solo show at TAM titled Sites of Conflict. Zavier draws on the immense history of protest movements and surveys the patterns that emerge through the use of slogans, leaders, signs, and walls. Sites of Conflict opens during a prescient time in Los Angeles, as widespread protests have occurred across the city and nation against immigration raids. In this conversation, Eric asks Zavier about his examination on audience's reactions to his work and, in a deeper sense, the content of it.
