What does art teach us that other subjects cannot?

In Episode 3 of The Beau Soleil Podcast, we explore art not simply as a subject, but as a process of reflection, identity, vulnerability and interpretation. Joined by Grade 12 Visual Art students, our Art Faculty Lead Carla Meisel and Dr Paul Lynch, this conversation moves far beyond exhibitions, technique or assessment. Together, we discuss the emotional and deeply personal process behind creating art, the role of patience and imperfection in developing artistic identity, and the challenge of presenting vulnerable work publicly. The episode also explores the relationship between art, politics and contemporary society, raising the question of whether art education engages something deeper within us — emotion, memory, identity and experience. Art education is far more than learning how to create. Find out more in this episode. #Education #ArtEducation #Podcast #VisualArts #IBVisualArts #Creativity #Learning #WhatIsEducation

Kilimanjaro: Lessons from a Summit That Never Happened

What happens when a group of students attempt to climb Africa’s highest mountain — and don’t reach the summit? In this episode of The Beau Soleil Podcast, students Bella and Momo join our Head of PE and Sport Science, Ms King, to reflect on their recent Kilimanjaro expedition and the difficult decision to turn back when weather conditions made it unsafe to continue. Rather than focusing on the summit, the conversation explores what the experience revealed about resilience, teamwork, preparation and judgement. It also raises an important question about education itself: if experiences like this cannot be graded or measured, how do we recognise their value? Because sometimes the most important lessons aren’t the ones that end at the top. Learn more about Beau Soleil’s extensive Trips Programme: www.beausoleil.ch/trips [http://www.beausoleil.ch/trips]
