In his early professional career he was the co-author of one BNA Tax Management Portfolio and the sole author of another. He has been published in law reviews, Trusts & Estates magazine, Probate and Property and served as the Philanthropic Editor of CCH's Journal of Practical Estate Planning. He was a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel from 1994 until 2022. He founded the Purposeful Planning Institute in February 2010 and currently serves on its board and teaches the Purposeful Trusts & Legacies Mastery course.
