The Case For... (with Matthew Campobasso)
entire life. But at some point, the question stops being hypothetical. It becomes real. And that’s when most people go quiet. Because the honest answer, for a staggering number of adults, is: I don’t know. I’m twenty years into practicing law. I’ve been a prosecutor, a litigator, a law firm partner, an executive director, a general counsel, and a chief legal officer. If you asked me to describe my career, I could do it in great detail. If you asked me what I wanted from it, I would have struggled to give you an honest answer for most of those twenty years. I could tell you what I did. I could not tell you why. I had built a career on credentials and momentum rather than clarity. And the cost was years of achievement that felt hollow. My guest today is Carmelina Piedra — Forbes Distinguished Certified Career Coach, Executive Innovation Coach, founder of Career Coaching Pro, Forbes Coaches Council member, and one of the Top 15 Career Coaches in Illinois. She holds a Master’s from the Institute of Design at IIT and is certified in human-centered design thinking. Together we make the case that the reason most people feel stuck is not the market, not the economy, and not their boss. It’s that they’ve never clearly defined what they’re moving toward.
