The Catholic Morning Show
About the book: The Pathway to the Sacred Heart of Jesus A new release from Angelico Press [https://angelicopress.com/?utm_source=Iowa%20Catholic%20Radio&utm_medium=Podcast&utm_campaign=The%20Catholic%20Morning%20Show], this was the central project of Fr. Robert I. Bradley, S.J. — a Jesuit who, as a teenager at Gonzaga High School in Spokane, first wondered whether a soul could truly live inside the Heart of Jesus while still on earth. He entered the Jesuits in 1941 and spent a lifetime mapping that pathway. Betty Bosarge, OSF, his longtime editor and a key force in bringing the book to publication, joins the show to share its message. A pathway through the Eucharist and Our Lady Bosarge describes Fr. Bradley's core conviction: receiving Jesus in the Holy Eucharist — truly his Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity — with devotion and belief reshapes a life. Sin loosens its grip, the virtues grow, and the fruits of the Holy Spirit follow. Live this way, she says, and life feels almost split in two — "halfway in heaven and halfway here" — carrying real peace even through suffering. A rule of life for the laity — in three stages After years of people asking "Father, how do we get there?", Bradley developed a layperson's rule of life that unfolds in three stages, culminating with the great mystics like St. Teresa of Avila in true contemplation. Practical starting points from the conversation: first, desire it and resolve in your will; recognize sin and embrace the Sacrament of Penance; then build a devotional rhythm — Sunday Mass moving toward daily Mass, the Rosary, and more. To answer the universal "I don't have time," Bradley's chapter on building a rule of life has readers track how they spend each day for a couple of weeks — and discover the free hours hiding in plain sight. A timely word: the Sacred Heart in 2026 The book arrives in the heart of the Church's Sacred Heart season. On June 11, 2026, the U.S. bishops consecrated the nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as part of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, following a June 3–11 novena.
