Season 3 premiere of The Chi opens with Kevin's mom getting married to a new character, Dre, on the same day as Brandon's funeral. Keisha has a chance to leave Chicago with track scholarships and Emmett encourages her to do something with her life. Meanwhile, he has taken over Brandon's Taco Truck and promises Kev that he'll look out for him. Trig, a new character who is actually Jake's older brother, has a violent runin with Duda. The Chi S3 E2 Recap & After Show: Where is Kiesha and Where Has Trig Been?

Season 3 EP 2 of The Chi begins with Kevin realizing that his sister Keisha is still M.I.A. after 2 days of no contact from her to anyone including their mom and he decides to find her on his own.  Their mom Jada discovers that speed dating is yet another fail in her quest to develop a meaningful relationship, but after consulting with Emmit's girlfriend, Tiffany she is at least physically satisfied with a home visit from a persuasive massage therapist.  Dre also does her due diligence in searching for Keisha and finds her phone through Ronnie in the homeless area of the city. Emmit learns about a female Chef in town that has everyone talking about how good her cooking is and propositions her to become business partners. Trig, Jake's estranged brother comes back into town with a new girlfriend and a plan to get Jake back and have them all live together away from Chicago. ABOUT THE CHI: The South Side of Chicago carries daily danger, and the smallest and simplest of decisions can have life or death consequences for the residents. Life continues as the kids prep for school and their parents shuffle off to work. The young adults of the area are trying to scrape a living for themselves, while the elders sit on their front porches and observe the goings on. The South Side has the potential to crush dreams, and this coming-of-age series focuses on Kevin, a preteen who embraces the normal rites of childhood, Brandon, who makes a leap of faith to succeed in love and life with Jerrika, Emmett, who seeks guidance from his mother, and Ronnie, who is a drifter struggling to be loved.
