Have you ever felt discouraged after applying for many jobs and getting rejected? In this episode, I had the great opportunity to interview Churchill Mortgage Homeloan Assistant, former Division One baseball player, Gardner Webb MBA candidate, and University of Oregon alum, Colton Sakamoto. We discussed why he decided to attend the University of Oregon and how his childhood connections made his transition to college easier. We also talk about his experience moving across the country to North Carolina to continue playing college baseball while getting his MBA. Colton concludes by sharing his story about getting hired during this year's (2020) global pandemic and some of the challenges he had to overcome. Key insights shared: 5:33 - The benefits of being a dual-enrolled student at a four-year college and a community college. 15:37 - Online school advice. 20:01 - What has prepared him the most for his job. 24:08 - How to overcome being uncomfortable with networking. 26:27 - How a camping trip turned into getting hired for his job.
