Episode 19 - MLM's, Network Marketing, and Pyramid Scheme Scams - Interview with Robert L. Fitzpatrick

MLM/Network Marketing/ Pyramid Schemes are they all scams?  Are there any exceptions?   Robert Fitzpatrick thinks so, with over 20 years experience as the worlds expert for pyramid schemes. Author of two books and representing clients in court cases all over the world, who have been victims to schemes were over 90% of people never even make their initial investment back, with the people at the top making all the money.  We dive into many interesting discussions around personal development, manipulation, removal of critical thinking, government corruption and involvement, get rich quick, instant happiness promises, also how doing the basic maths shows they don’t work.   Questions to ask yourself if you are in a scheme:  -Is the emphasis on recruiting rather than selling?  -Do they keep saying this is not a pyramid scheme? -Do they tell you it can fulfil all your needs without telling you what it is? -Are you being sold a pathway to happiness? -Are you being asked to list 100 people? -Are you made to feel bad for not working hard enough? -Do you understand what it actually is?  -If you left the group would you feel as if you would be ignored?  We dive into something that has fascinated me for years as I see people get involved in these schemes all the time, as I did many years ago, they have been hot since the pandemic started and rise of social media with people posting.  Also ending on the political involvement and how one of the biggest and most profitable scams in history is able to remain without any fraud laws, and how most of the money goes to the U.S.
