Descripción

What do you think when you hear the word "Theology?" Is it something to be avoided? Divisive? Over-complicated? The reality is good theology is simply having a good understanding of scripture, which goes deeper than just a "head-knowledge" about God. It must go to the heart level and have practical effects in our lives. Scriptures quoted or referenced in this episode include John 4:23, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Isaiah 55:11, Ephesians 2:10, 1 Corinthians 13:2, Matthew 28:18-20, Matthew 6:10, 2 Timothy 2:15, Romans 12:2, and 1 Peter 3:15.  If you want to leave feedback, you can send me a voice message at Anchor.fm/thechristianlife. How to Keep a Bible Journal

In this episode of The Christian Life we look at how to keep a bible journal, from picking out which journal you will actually use, to the logistics of a time and place, and of course, we look in depth at the things we want to keep a record of each day, as we spend time in the Word of God. Resources Mentioned: The 21-Day Reading Plan from Sozo Ministries [http://sozoministries.net/2020/03/28/free-resource-21-day-new-testament-reading-plan/]; the Read Scripture App [https://www.readscripture.org], and my blog series on busyness [http://anthonyingram.com/the-destructive-power-of-always-being-busy/]. episode How to Study The Bible artwork

How to Study The Bible

Every Christian knows the Bible is God's Word, and that we should be studying it daily. However, most do not. For some, this may be due to time constraints or other extenuating circumstances, but for most, it is often a lack of commitment and a feeling of being unequipped to do so. I cannot help you with the commitment level, but in this episode I do hope to help you feel equipped to study the Bible for yourself.  Resources Mentioned: The book "Living By The Book: The Art and Science of Reading the Bible" by Howard G. Hendricks and William D. Hendricks; the book "Contagious Disciple Making: Leading Others on a Journey of Discovery" by David Watson and Paul Watson; and the mobile Bible study app "Read Scripture." Scriptures quoted or referenced in this episode include 2 Timothy 3:16, Philippians 4:13, Hebrews 4:12, John 14:26, Philippians 2:12, and 2 Corinthians 3:18.  If you want to leave feedback, you can send me a voice message at Anchor.fm/thechristianlife. Growing in Discernment

In order to live the Christian Life successfully, discernment is one of the greatest skills you must develop. You must learn to distinguish between your own thoughts,  input and lies from the enemy, and the voice of the Lord. As we currently find ourselves in a season where external input is leading many to fear, anxiety and hopelessness, it is the perfect season to learn how to walk in discernment and walk in obedience to the Lord. Resources mentioned in this episode include the book, "4 Keys to Hearing God's Voice" by Mark Virkler and my blog post, "Spiritual Warfare: The Battle for Your Mind" Scriptures quoted or referenced in this episode include Genesis 3:1-7, Hebrews 5:14, Luke 4, John 4:7, John 8:32, John 10:10, John 14:15, Romans 5:8, Romans 8:1, 2 Corinthians 10:3-6. How to Hear God's Voice

Hearing God's Voice is one of the most vital things we do, as believers, to build our relationship with the Lord. In this episode we look at examples of how people hear God's voice, both in scripture and in the present day. These include hearing Him speak through the scriptures, hearing the audible voice of God, hearing the still, small "intuitive voice" of God. They also includes visionary gifts, such as dreams, visions, and trances. And they include things like angelic visitations, physical sensations, and inspired speech.  Scriptures quoted or referenced in this episode include 2 Timothy 3:16, 1 Samuel 3, Acts 9:1-9, Deuteronomy 13:1, Genesis 37:1-11, Genesis 41:1-36, Daniel 2, 2 Kings 6:17, Acts 10:10-17, and Hebrews 13:2.  If you want to leave feedback, you can send me a voice message at Anchor.fm/thechristianlife [http://Anchor.fm/thechristianlife].
