(2/2) The Convergence #5 /w Mogali Masuku on The Actor Under Threat

This weekend, we speak to Actor, Dancer and Writer, Mogali Masuku. Hailing from South Africa and a descendant of activists during Apartheid, Mogali has armed herself during her training and her career with an alchemic blend of legal prowess, unwavering faith and self-awareness. Despite being a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, she continues to develop her craft as an individual. Whether it is writing for The Othello Project or speaking openly about issues surrounding racial or gender discrimination, Mogali is the embodiment of a political actor. In this episode of The Convergence, we dive into last week's can of worms and assess the safety of actors in training. What infrastructures currently exist to ensure the safety of those who wish to hone their craft? How do we consider existing infrastructures of accountability? Why are these questions even important?

The Convergence #4 /w Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo on The Actor Life

This weekend, we speak to Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, a London-based actor and voiceover artist and one third of the Dungeons and Dragons podcast Three Black Halflings. She has carved a diverse career for herself since leaving The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, premiering Danai Gurira's The Convert at the Young Vic; you can listen to her on BBC's Doctor Who spin-off The War Master: Hearts of Darkness, alongside Sir Derek Jacobi; she can also be heard voicing multiple characters in video games. If that sounds like a lot, she is also, first and foremost a theatre practitioner in her own right, teaching at Guildford School of Acting, guiding young actors along the drama school path. We will be talking about how she manages the life of a working actor, her own personal development, the drama school system and how those pieces fit together post-graduation. We hope to see you at the event, so please like, share, RSVP and we will see you there!
