Episode 11 - How to Manage Syncope (Fainting)

In the eleventh episode of The Dysautonomia Download, we interview Erin Williams. Erin recently completed her PhD in the Cardiovascular Physiology Laboratory at Simon Fraser University, under the supervision of Dr. Victoria Claydon. Her work focused on the role of skeletal muscle pumping in maintaining cardiovascular stability, with a particular emphasis on its application in counterpressure maneuvers for the prevention of syncope (fainting). She is currently working as a researcher in the Sanatani lab at BC Children's Hospital. In today's episode, we discuss syncope and strategies for preventing fainting, new research in the field, and how to best manage faints. As mentioned in the podcast, the Cardiovascular Physiology Laboratory works closely with patient advocacy groups.
