What is that music at the beginning and end of each podcast?

A new listener to the podcast recently asked us about the music that's heard in the beginning and end of the podcast so we thought we'd discuss it. What you're hearing is the handpan played by Bobby frank. It's a weird and amazing instrument that blends rhythm, harmony and melody. You might encounter one at a soundbath or during meditation. It's a soothing sound that inspires relaxation, introspection and calm.  About halfway through this episode, you'll hear a 5 minute improvisation on handpan and percussion. DAB and Sonder

Continuing with the word of the year theme, we talk about depth as related to a story about a family-owned company that was part of our lives 40+ years ago. We land on a discussion of the word sonder, which according to the Internet is defined as: the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness—an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.
