Descripción

I thought it would be a great idea to share what it has been like for me to be a new parent with bipolar disorder. Parenting is hard enough without a mental disorder; but because I have one, I have faced some challenges that other people may not have. In this episode I talk about my fears of having children, what my pregnancy journey was like, my run-in with post partum depression, and my journey thus far as a parent while juggling "the return" of my bipolar disorder. Though I share many details, it's not a complete detailed story. If you would like to share your story or have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave me a voice message, DM on Twitter or Instagram or email me a cw.elephantroom@gmail.com. I'd be happy to hear your stories or answer any questions you may have. I get that this may not be a story everyone wants to hear, but you never know who's going through something similar to what you went through and you never know who is listening. Hopefully this episode reaches the person/people it needs to.  *If you know a mother who is expecting or has recently given birth, please do me a  favor and check on them and lend a hand. DON'T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER! Whether they have a mental/physical condition or not, whether they are married/in a relationship or not or whether you think they have all the help that they need...just ask...or better yet (because we all can be reluctant to accept help of any kind) just do something for her. No gesture is too small.  Love you all. See you next time! <3

Episode 9: Personal Story Time [“Just Be Strong”]

I know that I told you all that I would be more consistent in my posting in the last episode. However, just like many of you, COVID-19 came through and did some damage in my life and I’m still picking up the pieces trying to make sense of it all. This is not a typical episode. This episode is very personal. Though I was hesitant to make and release this episode, I had to think about the purpose of my podcast: to help others feel like their not alone and to maybe help someone who may be going through the same thing(s) that I am. If you are going through something, know that you can always email me or send me a message if you need someone to talk to. Hopefully this episode does what it’s supposed to do and reaches the people it needs to. To all of my family and friends, thank you for the support and love you have shown me through this insane time. You don’t know how much it means to me. Please know that I am not attacking anyone in this episode. I love you all and I am thankful to have you all in my life.
