The Elite Investor Show
This week on the Elite Investor Show, I am sitting down with special guest Joey Long. We go way beyond just real estate investing in this conversation, exploring the architecture of a self-made life. Joey takes me back to the very beginning, revealing how issues with bone tumors and a bunch of surgeries led to a chance meeting with a guy named Larry. Larry introduced him to a key mentor, who "took me under his wing" and "taught me all these crazy unique ways to buy real estate". We explore the mindset of someone who would buy their first house six months later after paying for a $500 class with a promise. We also talk about how success is rarely a solo project. Joey opens up to me about his mentors and key figures who provided the blueprint for his growth. He shares the lessons on not "grind[ing] to be a $100 million guy" and valuing "Peace" more than money. On a personal note, we discuss the big changes in his life outside of work. Joey talks about what he does when he feels challenged, which includes practicing mixed martial arts (MMA) "so I can leave work and go take out some of that aggression" and stepping away with a quick weekend trip to "detach". We also discuss his philosophy of not taking advantage of sellers, but helping them and creating allies to build a trust fund for a grandkid.
