Episode 1: The Peak of Defiance: Part 1

Learn about one of the mountaintop cities--the Peak of Defiance. Picasso hears a lovely song that haunts him, allowing him to see a vision of a third city that no one else can see. In Defiance, learn how the city runs and meet Ultraviolet and Stylus. Ultraviolet and Stylus begin to develop a personal relationship that could have a major impact on the future of those who think differently than the Scholar.

Episode 2: The Peak of Defiance: Part 2

Violet and Picasso have a heart-to-heart talk about why he chose to train her over all the other candidates. A series of votes leads Violet and Stylus to conclude that Defiance's voting system may not be as perfect as is advertised. Violet, sensing a kindred spirit, invites Stylus to their secret guild meeting.

Episode 3: The Peak of Defiance: Part 3

Picasso agrees to vouch for Stylus in their secret meeting in Picasso's shop, letting them into their confidence. Members of many guilds meet to discuss problems in Defiance's voting system and whether disobedience is warranted. At this meeting Picasso shares his painting of the mysterious "Man on the Mountain," but the meeting has been compromised. Who betrayed the gathering?

Episode 4: The Peak of Reliance: Part 1

We move to the other Peak, the Peak of Reliance. In Reliance, an agrarian society performs final rites for some of its deceased members. But mourning is forbidden, because only sinners die. In this episode we are introduced to the precocious twins Sam and Roy, and their friend Ann, as they seek to unravel the mystery behind the last words of Sam and Roy's grandfather.

Episode 5: The Peak of Reliance: Part 2

Roy is content to let the mystery drop in the case of his grandfather's mysterious papers, but Sam's curiosity is getting the better of him. Ann doesn't believe that her mother deserved to die, but others in the community think she lived a life of secret wickedness and are wary of Ann as a result.
