Descripción

The United States has gone to the polls and has cast a record number of votes. This was an epic election with the pollsters being wrong again in many ways, but right in others. A predicted red mirage appeared as predicted, and the blue surge came in to make the difference. But even with a record number of ballots cast, nothing has been determined.  We do our recount of the vote and how we see things shaking out.

The Healthcare System in the United States (Part Two)

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Are those just empty platitudes, or do they have real meaning? On examination there appears to be one thing that is common to the state of each of those words. Health. It is virtually impossible to have life without health. It would seem our liberty does not exist when our health makes us dependent on others, drugs, or treatment to survive. Certainly there can be little happiness if we are not healthy. It seems for us to maintain the tenets of the American dream that health and the maintenance of our health should be front and center. But the system in the United States is not focused on health or even health care. The system’s aim is elsewhere and routinely misses the target.
