S2, Ep 6: Who We Are vs Who We Thought We'd Be

Tonight’s dinner conversation gets real about the choices, boundaries, and mindset shifts that are a part of adulthood. Over good food and honest discussion, we dive into the balance between chasing a higher salary vs adjusting expectations and lifestyle habits in a world that constantly tells us to want more. We also unpack the difference between being “nice” and being truly kind — and why the two aren’t always the same. From people-pleasing to honesty, respect, and accountability, we explore how intention matters in relationships and everyday interactions. And finally, we talk about the blurred lines between friendship and professionalism in the workplace. Is it better to build close connections with coworkers, or keep work strictly business? We share perspectives, personal experiences, and the pros and cons of both approaches. Pull up a chair and join us for a thoughtful, unfiltered dinner-table conversation about work, relationships, money, and personal growth.

S2, Ep 5: The Hard of Marriage Part 2 - Sex, Trauma, Healing & Holiness

Welcome back to Part 2 of our amazing conversation with The Sowells!  On today’s episode, we continue our conversation marriage sex, grief, and trauma.  We talk through the messy middle of working through hard things, reminding ourselves that marriage is for holiness, not for happiness.  Here's a bio about the Sowells: Jamell and Bria Sowell are passionate, spiritual creatives from Atlanta and the Bronx, respectively. Married at the end of 2021 and currently residing in the Greater Philadelphia area, they love God; continuously seek to love and serve people; and enjoy traveling, working out and spending time with family and friends. The Sowells both work in higher education as Jamell pursues his Master of Social Work degree and Bria freelances by night. She has written many lifestyle pieces for Radiant NYC, Sweet July and Ebony Magazine. Bria is currently on SubStack with a publication called: Blessed Are Those Who Mourn, where she features everyday stories of loss as a means to heal by sharing in each others’ pain and redefining our traditional black and white thinking around seasons of grief and mourning.
