The Flag to Flag Podcast
We're back with a loaded episode this week. John recaps his trip to the inaugural Grand Prix of Arlington, the facilities, the racing, the vibes, and we get into whether IndyCar should branch out to more street circuits and which cities deserve a race. We go back and forth on NASCAR and IndyCar doubleheaders and what actually works from a logistics standpoint. On the F1 side, we react to Kimi Antonelli picking up his first career win in China (and the announcer calling him Kimi Raikkonen on the podium), the Bahrain and Saudi GP getting canceled, McLaren's power unit nightmare, and Fernando Alonso literally losing feeling in his hands from the car vibrations. We also dig into whether Mercedes is heading toward another Silver War situation and whether Toto will let his drivers actually race each other. We get into a bigger conversation about what Formula One is really selling, is it a race or a status symbol? Chad hops on the soapbox for that one and John puts his marketing hat on to break down why it actually makes sense from a branding perspective, even if it frustrates the hardcore fans. the NASCAR side, we talk Denny Hamlin's strategy win in Vegas, the Chastain and Suarez situation that's apparently been brewing for a while, and whether throwback weekend deserves a proper comeback. We share our favorite schemes of the weekend and then lock in our Darlington picks, and somehow we both landed on Chase Briscoe without talking about it beforehand. Plus the local racing report from Tucson Speedway, Dale Jr. making laps at Nashville Fairgrounds, and a look at the rest of the weekend motorsports calendar. 🏁 Darlington Picks: Chase Briscoe (both of us) 📧 Want your local short track featured?
