As we approach the final game of the 2025 BIG3 season, we get a chance to talk to both sides of the championship matchup. This week we brought on Chicago Triplets’ forward Amir Johnson for the first time and recurring guest in Miami 305’s assistant coach Mark Grey. While Amir looks to capture his third BIG3 title and make history, Mark is a part of a team making the championship game for the third time as he looks to get his first ring. Beno Smith

In the most competitive season of the BIG3, getting an opportunity on a team hasn’t been easy – especially if you’re a rookie. But with the injury to Detroit Amplifiers co-captain and BIG3 goat Joe Johnson lingering longer than expected, Cameron “Beno” Smith will get his shot starting this weekend in Boston. Smith, who’s played overseas, in the G-League, the TBL, and The Next Chapter, has been making strong headways throughout the basketball community as of late. Shakur Juiston

Shakur Juiston had arguably one of the WILDEST rookies seasons in the BIG3 in 2024. After being recruited by Trilogy’s Isaiah Briscoe to play in the league, Juiston was ultimately drafted in the second round by the 3 Headed Monsters where he played with the Jeff Teague, Greg Monroe, and Brandon Moss. Following six weeks of up and down chemistry, being released and re-signed the same week to the same team, suiting up for another team following that game, and then playing for a completely new team in the final week, Shakur was still able to make his mark and get drafted this summer. Now as a member of the Detroit Amplifiers, Juiston is not only making the most of his opportunity but he’s showing the Amps’ owners and the entire league why he’s here to stay for years to come. Nasir Core

Nasir Core being on a different team this summer was not on our bingo card entering the 2025 season. Core, who is the reigning Rookie of the Year and 4th Man of the Year, was expected to be the No. 1 pick to the Miami 305 before Lance Stephenson joined the BIG3. He ultimately went undrafted but was acquired by the Chicago Triplets before the season started. Isaiah Austin: Trilogy Edition

Isaiah Austin has accomplished just about everything since joining the BIG3 in 2021. Drafted first overall, earned accolades, and won a championship. But when news broke late last year, that he was in the midst of his final season, it’s safe to say it was a bittersweet moment.
