The Ghost Diaries
Icelandic folklore tells of the hidden people and old New Year’s Eve traditions that treated the night as a boundary when things moved, paths mattered, and people stayed inside. In this episode of The Ghost Diaries, I explore the history of this New Year’s Eve folklore, how old the belief is, and why it was taken seriously for generations. Lights were left on, homes were kept in order, and people avoided interfering with what they did not understand. Based on those real beliefs, I then share a fireside warning story inspired by the traditions themselves. A story people might have told each other long ago to remind everyone why this night was treated differently. This episode focuses on Icelandic folklore, ancient New Year traditions, and quiet unsettling stories passed down through oral tradition.
