The Gig Econ Show - Episode #0

In this "prelude" to our inaugural "Gig Econ Show," Zane, Kallan, and Bill embark upon our origin stories: How & why we created Gig-Economics, what exactly Gig Economics is, and how the three of us got together in the first place. This episode is a preview of more to come. Every Friday night at 8pm Pacific, we will host another live broadcast of the Gig Econ Show. So what is Gig Economics and why should you care? Second question answered first: The economy has been headed toward a gig economy for quite a few years now. We first heard "gig economy" back during the early 2000s when our then-VP, Dick Cheney, said something about it. We'd never heard of it before, not to say the term hadn't existed. But it gained wide(r) spread use after that utterance and now fast forward to today, when many of us (between 20 and 30 million--or more) are out of a "job" and have to scramble to make ends meet. Since NOBODY is hiring right now, with the exception of Amazon, grocery stores, and some banks, traditional job opportunities are few and far between. In fact, it's nearly impossible to get a job right now. If you're lucky, you're getting weekly unemployment checks. But those WILL RUN OUT. And then what? It's better to prepare NOW for the inevitable event: The check stop coming but your bills don't. Enter Gig Economics! Zane, Kallan, and Bill are PROS when it comes to getting work in the gig economy. Whether it's hustling for Lyft or Uber, running personal errands for busy executives, cleaning, painting, helping others with their sales & marketing -- we may not have "done it all," but we certainly have done a lot! This show, the Gig Econ Show, will open your eyes to the possibilities that lie before you: The ability to set your own schedule, work when you want, and get paid for your efforts (instead of taking the crumbs from the company you used to work for). Come along - next Show is Friday.
