Guyana SPEAKS: Celebrating Guyanese-British Poets & Storywriters

This Guyana SPEAKS event took place on Sunday, 26th January (2pm-5pm).  It involved the invited guests: Maggie Harris, Brian Reid and Elly Niland, and included live contributions from members of the audience: Doris Harper-Wills, Fay Clarke, Gina Agnew, Kim Sheldon, Nyasha Westmaas (via YouTube), Juanita Cox and Sandra Agard.  The event was curated and produced by Juanita Cox and Rod Westmaas, co-founders of Guyana SPEAKS.  This event could not be the success it was without the regular support and assistance of Greer Westmaas, the generosity of Tafawa Ntune - proprietor of The Classic in Tooting Bec, our wonderful audience and 'speakers' who kindly share their talents and time!   PLEASE NOTE: Due to technical problems this recording is missing the first 10 minutes of the event and also the last 10 minutes.  This means that the first ten minutes of Maggie Harris's readings are missing, and that the poem by Juanita Cox (Akawini Nights) and the reminiscences and votes of thanks by Sandra Agard are missing.  Nyasha Westmaas's contribution was pre-recorded and is provided separately on the Guyana SPEAKS page.
