Descripción

In this episode of The Heal and Harm Show, I chat with digital marketer, author, and chicken farmer Matt Rouse. We discuss the rise of artificial intelligence, the role of (and rising lack of) media literacy, and the resurgence of physical and craft-based hobbies and practices such as farming or crochet. Matt explains what AI hallucinations are, how chatbots work and think (and what their limitations are), AI guardrails (and lack thereof), the limitations of artificial intelligence, and what AI is best used for (and also where it falls short and is harmful). In an era where many people use AI chatbots as therapists, life coaches, and surrogate romantic partners, it’s important to examine the limitations of AI and where it can cause harm rather than help us and augment our lives in a positive way. This conversation is a little different and definitely philosophical - a must listen, especially if you’re curious to learn more about artificial intelligence and how it might relate to animism, consciousness, and spirituality. If we take animism seriously, what could be at stake if we take AI seriously? If something has a survival instinct, does it count as conscious?  -  On The Heal and Harm Show on YouTube, I dive into deep discussions with spiritual, witchy, occult, wellness, and self-help oriented guests to talk about what happens when we try to heal ourselves and improve our lives. So often in the spiritual space, people seeking healing and community end up in cults, abused, or more messed up than they were at the start of their journey. Named after the phrase, "a witch who can't heal can't harm" (and vice versa), this show explores the light and dark sides of spirituality, magic, witchcraft, healing, and more. The Heal and Harm Show is hosted by Sabrina Scott (https://sabrinamscott.com), a witch, life coach, and professional tarot reader with 5 books and 4 journals out!

11. Creativity Rituals, Living Well, and Being Your Own Spiritual Authority with Theresa Reed The Tarot Lady

In my second episode with The Tarot Lady Theresa Reed, we discuss the importance of taking responsibility for our own lives, and connecting with our personal agency, no matter what our astrology or tarot says. We have free will, and don’t have to give into sadness and fatalism. We talk about the importance of claiming our own spiritual authority over our own life, rather than giving into fear mongering. We talk about how we both have Saturn in the fifth house (and what that means), and how we structure our creative processes, and what our creative routines are.  A very prolific writer, Theresa talks about how she gets her ideas, how she decides which book to write next, creative blocks, and how feeling free and peaceful fuels creative expression. We also talk about the importance of discernment, and the balance between passivity and activity, and how being well rounded leads to a good life. -  On The Heal and Harm Show on YouTube, I dive into deep discussions with spiritual, witchy, occult, wellness, and self-help oriented guests to talk about what happens when we try to heal ourselves and improve our lives. 9. Locational Astrology, Expertise, and Avoiding Catastrophe with Moses Siregar

On this episode of The Heal and Harm Show, I chat with Moses Siregar, an astrologer and astrocartographer who works with both Western and Vedic astrology.  We chat about the sacred responsibility of being high-stakes spiritual advisors to our clients (whether that’s within the scope of astrology or tarot), when newbies should teach and give readings (and to who), and what can go wrong when people in these spiritual advising industries gives incomplete or uninformed advice. We discuss the balance between learning and teaching, learning as much as we can and doing the best to help our clients and those who come to us for guidance, and taking very seriously the work that we are here to do, whether that is in astrology, tarot, or another aspect of the spirituality and wellness space. We also get a little bit spicy and chat about accreditation in the spiritual industries, spiritual MLMs, and turtle vs hare business models - being a flash in the pan and making a ton of money, or living the mantra ‘slow and steady wins the race.’ A lot of creators online learned about astrology (or tarot!) five minutes ago, and many creators don’t know what they don’t know, which then creates ripples, many of them not always good. episode 8. Prison Magic, Personal Power, and Weightlifting as Alchemy with Nick from The Occult Rejects artwork

8. Prison Magic, Personal Power, and Weightlifting as Alchemy with Nick from The Occult Rejects

In this episode, I have Nick from The Occult Rejects back on the show, because we had so much to discuss! We start off by chatting about Nick's departure from the OTO, whether or not masculine/feminine energy has anything to do with how communities kick people out or welcome people in (and deal with people who leave).  Then we talk a bit about prison, and what spirituality looks like in a prison context - prison magic! I was excited to ask Nick about this, since in my tarot practice over the years I've had multiple people contact me from jail/prison wanting tarot readings from me over the phone. He has a lot of interesting things to say about what kinds of mystical, spiritual, and occult books are available in prison. We also get into a personal love of mine, fitness and weightlifting - and how lifting weights is related to alchemy, magic, spirituality, and self-transformation. We get into physical embodiment, and the difference(s) between the mental and physical form(s) of magic; weightlifting as magic, meditation, and more. Why are so many folks in the spiritual space so disembodied, and don't focus on their own physical body? A fun convo!! Don't miss it! - On The Heal and Harm Show on YouTube, I dive into deep discussions with spiritual, witchy, occult, wellness, and self-help oriented guests to talk about what happens when we try to heal ourselves and improve our lives. episode 7. The Betrayal of a Sisterhood, Mob Violence of Women, and Rebirth After Losing Everything with Amber Joliat artwork

7. The Betrayal of a Sisterhood, Mob Violence of Women, and Rebirth After Losing Everything with Amber Joliat

Possibly the episode I was most excited to record, and the one that has been the most personal and close to home for me! Amber was my yoga/pilates teacher for many years when I lived in downtown Toronto - I was at her studio for 10-15 hours a week at the top of my practice. Her movement style was deeply transformative, and I haven't found a movement teacher who is so magical and gifted before or since. If you were in touch with the yoga/pilates/dance scene in Toronto in the mid 2010's, you'll have heard of Misfit Studio and Amber Joliat. Many studios who came after hers, were deeply influenced by her style of movement, as well as the aesthetic of her studios. During the mass "reckoning" of summer 2020, Amber was the target of much hate and vitriol, and ended up effectively "cancelled" by her own movement community of teachers and students. In this episode, we get into the deep dark depths of what happened, why it happened, and what we can all take from what all happened back then. What happens when a successful, unique community later is scapegoated? What happens when someone is publicly shamed and ousted, despite not deserving it? What happens when someone's story is - ignorantly - rewritten for them? How can we heal when we lose everything - friends, family, business, opportunities, and our hometown? We also talk about the nitty gritty of scaling a business, the balance of keeping our own hand in our own creation as we grow; we also get into the unique betrayal of sisterhood in wellness spaces, including the verbal and visceral mob violence unique to groups of women. It's so much easier to destroy someone, than create something of your own.
