The Health Flo
Type 1 diabetes (T1D), is a form of diabetes in which very little or no insulin is produced by pancreas.. Insulin is a hormone required for the body to use blood sugar. With no treatment the blood sugar in your body will remain high. The common symptoms are frequent urination, increased thirst, increased hunger, and weight loss. Some people may experience additional symptoms such as blurry vision, tiredness, and poor wound healing. Symptoms may develop in just a few weeks. The cause of type 1 diabetes is unknown. It is believed to involve genetic and environmental factors. Risk factors include having a family member with type 1 diabetes. The mechanism of origination involves autoimmune destruction of the insulin producing beta cells that produce insulin in the pancreas. Diabetes is diagnosed by testing the level of sugar or glycated hemoglobin (HbA1C) in the blood. Type 1 diabetes can be determined from type 2 by testing for the presence of autoantibodies.
