Transcription: 00:00:07 Alannah Graves Hi everyone, welcome to The Historians' Hangout! 00:00:09 Alannah Graves Although this is not the first official episode, I wanted to give a preview of what to expect. 00:00:14 Alannah Graves The show will be hosted by me, Alannah Graves, and will have several other historians as guests throughout the season. 00:00:19 Alannah Graves Each episode will discuss how historians properly conduct history with pointers for those who want to get started on their own research projects or want to know a little bit more about history. 00:00:28 Alannah Graves I'm really excited to have you all stumble along on this journey. 00:00:31 Alannah Graves I won't lie, this podcast has been messy and difficult from changes in name, website mishaps and failing technology. 00:00:39 Alannah Graves This show is constantly evolving. 00:00:41 Alannah Graves The Historians' Hangout is my first time ever doing anything like this, so some aspects could be a little bit cleaner, more polished. 00:00:47 Alannah Graves But I'm still learning, just like you, this podcast is where my capstone project, but it really started off just by posting silly little history facts on my Instagram Reels for my friends. 00:00:55 Alannah Graves Everyone really seemed to enjoy it, so I guess I just moved it over here. 00:00:59 Alannah Graves I believe that history should be accessible and inclusive for everyone. 00:01:02 Alannah Graves All of these episodes will highlight groups that have been often ignored throughout the popular historical narrative due to their marginalized identities linked to race, gender, sexuality, religion, and so on. 00:01:14 Alannah Graves I hope this inspires future researchers to look into the silences or gaps in history where these people are often left out. 00:01:20 Alannah Graves I want to create a casual space where people can learn comfortably! Imagine the show as a group call with your really really nerdy friends instead of an academic lecture. 00:01:29 Alannah Graves So grab a snack, relax, and please come hang out with me while I learn something new. 00:01:33 Alannah Graves Feel free to follow along on our social media, Twitter and Instagram can be found at [@] thehisthangout . 00:01:40 Alannah Graves And YouTube at The Historians' Hangout. 00:01:42 Alannah Graves I can't wait to hang out with you. 00:01:43 Alannah Graves All the music for this episode was created by Brooke Beene, assistant in editing by Chase Fleece, and finally The Historians' Hangout is produced, hosted and directed by me, Alannah Graves. 00:01:54 Alannah Graves See you soon!
