Hey Hppy Blk Grls! Let's talk happiness... This episode is about happiness in relationships. I have one of best friends Femi on here with me and we’re sharing our lessons learned about happiness in relationships. What makes us happy? What does a happy relationship look like for us? What have we learned so far about our happiness? Happiness is a choice, but not always an easy one. Sometimes love doesn't always equal happiness and happiness doesn't always equal love. As we grow and heal from each failed relationship, we learn to be better for the next. We learn more and more about what we want and need in a relationship to make us happy. This doesn't mean we're always happy. It does mean that we learn what makes us happy, and how to define and create what a happy relationship is. This way, even the lows will seem bearable, because we are with a person who makes life worth going through all the lows and we have a partner who will be there for all of it. This is why happiness is a choice, because when you've made the decision to be happy no matter what, everything you do will only get you closer to that goal.  What are your thoughts? Entering my 30's...oh boy!

Today is my 30th Birthday and the climb to this momentous milestone has been an emotional rollercoaster to say the least. I was constantly plagued with questions about how I felt about turning 30 and my feelings around constantly swayed from exciting to scared. However, we're here now so no sense in feeling anything other than excitement for what the next decade will bring. I am looking forward to reaching all of goals and seeing my life unfold even more than it already has. However, in this podcast, I share all of my jitters and exciting moments and feelings that led up to this. My 20's were amazing and traumatic all at the same time. I have so much to thank those years for. So, I can quite literally only go up from here. Farewell 20's...hello 30's!

The Lifelong Aftermath of Rape

One of the hardest battles to triumph over is rape. The rape itself is traumatic, but the aftermath is what we aren't prepared for. We try everything to escape the reality of what happened to us, which honestly never works. The one thing I didn't have after was community. I didn't tell anyone about what happened to me for over 4 years. I fell into a lot of bad places keeping that secret to myself. It made the recovery that much harder. Now, I have begun healing and working through the aftermath of my rape, and I hope this help you also. Let's heal together Blk Grls! It's Hard to Heal

Healing is hard to do. It takes a conscious and consistent effort, and it can be a very lonely journey. In my very first episode, I dive into the beginnings of my healing journey in hopes that listeners can relate. I share my failed attempts, my final success at finding a therapist, and some encouraging words coupled with humor. As a Black woman, therapist are hard to find. There is already a stigma in the Black community when seeking mental health care, and then there is a small amount of Black female therapists. I hope this helps the Blk Grl just trying to find her little piece of Hppyness!
