The Idiom Podcast #8 with Chris McIntyre Part 2

Chris McIntyre is the creator of Walking English, a literary blog that contains the words of him and his friends. You can see videos of him reading his work at Cornelia Street Cafe at The Idiom Youtube Page. He has helped to edit the Idiom Anthologies and lives with 2 cats in Long Branch. On Walking English he is Mac. The second half of this podcast was recorded at Chris McIntyre's house with Erin Baird and their two cats, Warren and Regina. Chris goes into detail about where his poems come from and the stories that inspired them. We talk about how time takes a part in Chris's poems and a comparison of his work with Langston Hughes, the use of white space in his pieces, and what it's like growing up living by a train. We end the podcast talking about his connection with music and the sound of his shorter pieces.

The Idiom Podcast #5 at AWP

This podcast took place at AWP in Boston. Guest hosting with Mark Brunetti were some of the graduates of the William Paterson MFA creative writing program, Bobby Fischer, Tim O'Donnell, and Charlie Riccardelli. We list off some of the magazines and books and publishing companies we liked. We discuss what drives us to buy a book by an author we never read and the literary figures we would kiss. We end it with a titilating reading of The Ring Muscle a ceremonial piece of erotic fiction that gets read every year in the after hours of the conference....unfortunately I decided to shake my ipad as the file was normalizing and we lost part of it. Check out the idiom blog, www.theidiommag.wordpress.com to see links to the different things we mention in the podcast.
