Descripción

Showtime’s Homeland is filming in Virginia but how can you get hired? Don’t be surprised if DC Shorts’ film festival selections win Oscars. Plus more. The Indie Insider: Need-to-know film news + commentary from an indie filmmaker’s perspective. Correction: In the live broadcast we reported that two women are nominated this year for Emmys in the Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series category. There are three. We regret the error. SECRETS, LOCAVORE FILM SERIES, ESCAPE VELOCITY + MORE: INDIE INSIDER PODCAST, DMV EDITION, SEPT. 16

Guess the spots where "Secrets" the movie was filmed. Where can you see films that are rarely shown in the DMV? Plus more. The Indie Insider: Need-to-know film news + commentary from an indie filmmaker’s perspective. What we didn't get to mention... - Denyce Lawton, who also stars in "Secrets" and was a regular on Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne,” is from Maryland. Sole, who was married to R&B singer Ginuwine (Maryland’s own) and recently married Professor Griff of the classic rap group Public Enemy, also appears in the film, as does Tobias Truvillion, who plays D-Major on "Empire" (but, sadly, has no DMV connections that we know of). - September’s Locavore film was “Wish You Well,” directed by Darnell Martin (“Cadillac Records,” “Being Mary Jane”), filmed in Virginia and starring Ellen Burstyn. New York Times’ best-selling author David Baldacci, who wrote the film's screenplay, is a “lifelong Virginian.” He also wrote the novel “Absolute Power,” which was adapted into a 1997 feature film starring and directed by Clint Eastwood.
