The Kim Brixton Podcast Show
I just discovered an interview I conducted three decades ago with a refreshing, gifted and delightful artist that was gaining traction in the pop rock music scene. I caught up with Jill Sobule at a Detroit area record store. Her ground breaking hit at the time was called ‘I Kissed A Girl.’ She tragically passed away earlier this year at the age of 66. Take a moment to not only listen to the interview and three song mini set, but read the following words from GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis. “Jill Sobule wasn’t just a trailblazer in music-she was a beacon for queer artists. Jill was writing and singing about sexuality and identity with raw honesty and wit. Her courage helped pave the way for todays artists (Brandi Caroline, Adam Lambert, Sam Smith and many others. Jill was a rare light-funny, fearless and full of heart. Her impact will live on through her art and through everyone she inspired.”
