Just Get Started: When God Calls You Higher

Staying safe and familiar keeps you small. Stepping out (even when you don’t know how) is how He expands you. I share my own story of hearing a prophetic word to start a podcast, resisting because I barely knew social media, and learning everything step by step. The best, simplest piece of advice I got was: just get started. It’s honest: the tech was hard, my brain hurt, my husband was patient, and I still don’t always know what I’m doing — but I took the next step, and God met me in the process. There’s a spiritual side and a practical side to obedience. Prophetic words point to what’s coming, but systems and small, faithful actions get you there. God will stretch you more than you ever imagined — He wants your dependence, not your comfort. Sometimes the next step looks ugly or scary, but it’s part of the journey toward the promise. Remember Joseph, Jonah, Samson — their lives pivoted, got messy, and yet God’s plan moved through it all. You don’t need to understand every detail to obey. Faith often means moving when you only see part of the picture, trusting He’s preparing the rest. When you stay teachable and obedient, God rewrites your route into something even better. If you’re in a season of stretching, hang on to the truth: God is calling you to greater things and giving you what you need along the way. Shut the Door to Doubt: Learn, Steward, and Build Kingdom Foundations

Are you standing at a crossroads, feeling a massive vision from God, but unsure of the very first step? I get it — that tension between the dream and the how-to is real. In this season finale of the Language of Pearls Podcast, we dig into the learning foundation you need to build kingdom structures that last and impact generations. We walk through the story of the widow’s oil (2 Kings 4) and pull out practical, spiritual lessons: start by asking, "What do I already have?" — and then steward it faithfully. Elisha didn’t give her the miracle; he helped her see the resources in her hands and guided her to use them with obedience and diligence. We also talk about the five-fold ministry in Ephesians — apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers — and why apprenticeship and humility matter. Pride can make us think we’ve arrived, but real kingdom building usually begins with learning, listening, and walking in covenant relationships under wise leadership. Think apprenticeship, not entitlement. Invite others in, train the next generation, and create systems that outlast you. The goal isn’t to hoard the gold; it’s to pass it on so the vision grows beyond your lifetime. And yes, that often means shutting the door to unbelief and negative voices so the anointing can keep flowing. I share some personal pieces about launching this podcast and the bigger call toward DG Inspired Studios — how small obedient steps prepared the way for a larger, creative kingdom assignment. Take time to meditate on your vision, ask God where to start, and expect that the first steps will often be about learning, gathering the right people, and stewarding what’s already in your hands. Si alguna vez has sentido el peso de una visión del tamaño de Dios, pero parece que no logras encontrar el tiempo para llevarla a cabo, este episodio es para ti. Hablamos sobre la labor silenciosa y tenaz de la obediencia: elegir el mandato del Reino por encima de nuestras cómodas agendas y aprender cómo luce la verdadera diligencia. No se trata de esforzarse frenéticamente solo por el afán de estar ocupado/a. Se trata de reordenar tu vida para que el llamado que Dios te ha dado se convierta en la lente a través de la cual tomas cada decisión. Presento un ejemplo sencillo de una mujer llamada a escribir un libro mientras hace mucho con su familia, el trabajo y la iglesia; y muestro cómo es sacrificar algunas cosas, involucrar a la familia en el plan y presentarse con constancia hasta que la unción fluya. También analizamos ejemplos bíblicos —Noé construyendo el arca, Felipe corriendo hacia el carruaje, los milagros de los Hechos— para recordarte que la obediencia a menudo precede a la provisión pública. Dios respalda a Sus siervos cuando realizan la obra que Él les ha pedido, incluso si el camino resulta difícil al principio. En la práctica: pregúntale al Espíritu Santo qué aspectos de tu vida no se alinean con Su visión para ti; guarda tu llamado tal como María guardaba los tesoros en su corazón; comparte el plan con prudencia con personas de confianza; y dispónte a soltar cosas buenas para poder perseguir lo mejor. No olvides cuidar tu espíritu, tu alma y tu cuerpo; no podrás correr bien esta carrera si te encuentras exhausto/a. La promesa es real: la obediencia constante y el sacrificio producen una cosecha mayor de lo que jamás imaginaste. Tu labor para el Reino es vista en el cielo y, en el tiempo perfecto de Dios, Él hará que dé fruto. Mantén tus ojos fijos en Jesús, permanece fiel en las cosas pequeñas y permite que la diligencia que siembras se convierta en un testimonio que bendiga a otros. I pull from Scripture and real-life stories — from Adam and Eve to Joseph, David, Abraham, Nehemiah, John the Baptist, and Jesus — so you can recognize the patterns and not be blindsided. I want to free you from the lie that your calling is only for church walls. God can use your business, your art, your scientific research, your political voice, and every gift He’s given you to reflect His glory. When you bring Christ into your work, everything changes — and so will the resistance around you. Practically, learn to expect opposition, protect the early stages of your vision, stay focused like Nehemiah, guard your heart from comparison, forgive and move on, and offer sacrifices of obedience that make you trustworthy for more.
