Here's what the replacement mindset produces. You identify someone who looks like you. Leads like you. Thinks like you. Has navigated the organisation the way you have. You develop them to fill the seat you currently occupy. And then one day they step into it — and discover that the seat has changed. The organisation has moved. The challenges are different. The market has shifted. The team has new faces and new dynamics. And the person you prepared — perfectly — for the organisation as it was, is now leading the organisation as it is. Without the preparation that required.
