The Manifestation Method Podcast by Ayelet Polonsky
Ever wondered why you get results but then slip back to square one? Ever changed your habits but nothing really shifted? Ever felt like no matter how many vision boards you make or affirmations you repeat, something underneath keeps you stuck? In this transformative episode of The Manifestation Method, I'm revealing the number one reason people get blocked in their manifestation practice—and it has nothing to do with not trying hard enough. I'm opening with what most people are actually doing wrong: the outside-in approach. You want more money, so you research ways to make money. You want a healthier body, so you download a meal plan. You want love, so you optimize your dating profile. But here's the problem: if your identity hasn't shifted, if at your core you still feel like someone who struggles with money or someone who doesn't deserve love, then all those external efforts are running on a very shaky, cracked foundation. It's like pushing water uphill with sheer force—you might do it for a while, but the moment you stop, it flows back down. That's willpower without identity change. Drawing on psychological research about self-concept—I'm revealing the concept of the Identity Thermostat. Your self-concept functions exactly like a thermostat in your home with a set point. Anytime your life starts to move outside that set point—whether it gets too good or too bad—your subconscious mind kicks in to regulate you back to what feels normal, familiar, within your capacity to control. This is why lottery winners return to their original financial baseline within years. This is why someone with everything can still feel persistent unexplainable anxiety. Your nervous system is literally trying to bring your system back to order. I'm breaking down selective filtering—your brain literally filters out evidence that contradicts your existing identity. It highlights evidence that confirms who you believe you are. If you believe you're always struggling, your brain works hard to find proof you're always struggling. This isn't because you're broken—it's because your brain is sophisticated and efficient, doing exactly what it was built to do. The only way to change the thermostat setting is to change the identity it's calibrated to. This episode includes the Kabbalistic concept of Tselem Elohim (being created in the image of God)—not about looking like God, but having the same capacity as the divine: the capacity to create, to bring into being something that did not previously exist. The primary place creation happens is inside of you. You're not meant to be a passive receiver of a life that happens to you. You're a creative being with a soul with the power to reshape your inner world. As within, so without—when you reorganize within, your outer world begins to organize itself into alignment. You'll learn about Naase v'Nishmah (we will do and we will hear/understand)—the ancient Israelites didn't wait to feel spiritually prepared before accepting the Torah. They declared "we will do first, then we will understand." This is behavioral activation: action precedes motivation, not the other way around. You don't need to fully believe your new identity before you begin living it. You act from the new identity first, and then belief, evidence, embodied knowing comes after the action gets taken. Modern psychology is only now catching up to what our ancestors knew thousands of years ago. Whether you're repeating affirmations that aren't landing or wondering why you keep recreating the same patterns with different people, this episode offers the framework that changes everything: the operating system always wins. The outside can change, but if the inside (your identity, your nervous system, your felt sense of who you are) stays the same, you'll always return to baseline. This is why the work isn't just mindset—it's somatic, nervous system, cellular. Your soul speaks in sensation. Your nervous system needs to experience the new you emotionally and energetically, not just conceptualize it in your mind. Press play and discover: you are not meant to be a passive receiver. You have the power to reshape your inner world from the inside out. When you decide to shift your identity, you're not just adding something new—you're releasing something old. And yes, that requires grieving. The old identity was painful, but it was yours, familiar, safe. Accepting yourself completely means being willing to see all of who you are, including the parts holding you back, and then being willing to let them go. That's not a breakdown—that's becoming. That's falling into alignment.
