Garry L. McFadden is the 45th and first black Sheriff elected in Mecklenburg County. He is proud to be considered the most forward thinking and progressive Sheriff of Mecklenburg County. Sheriff McFadden has dedicated nearly 40 years to law enforcement. It is his vision for the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s office to be a nationally recognized public safety organization dedicated to deliberate service to our community. Three notable initiatives made by Sheriff McFadden are: Renaming the Mecklenburg County Jail to the Mecklenburg County Detention Center and referring to the men and women who are housed inside the facility as residents not inmates. Ending ICE’s 287(g) program, a controversial process the Sheriff believes erodes trust with the community. And lastly, implementing North Carolina’s first Behavioral Health Unit inside a jail or detention facility. The male and female behavioral health units were created to improve mental health treatment for residents as well as teach positive reinforcements and healthy coping skills. Clyde “Say No More" Thomas is an Entrepreneur who has always been an entrepreneur. It seems at some point in his life Mr. Thomas always had a hand in a new business venture. In 2004 Clyde Thomas (Mr.“Say No More”) took a trip to India to learn how human hair was being processed and developed to be sold. With that knowledge and $60k in savings Mr. Thomas opened Hair Ex LLC in Atlanta, Ga.   In 2012 Mr. Thomas to move to Charlotte, NC to take advantage of its growing love for its sports teams. Mr. Thomas help build and developed two popular locations in Charlotte NC. When the Carolina Panthers went to the Super bowl in 2015 Mr. Thomas took the opportunity to promote one largest Super bowl party ever in Charlotte NC. The event was held at Studio Movie Grill in the Epicenter. A portion of the proceeds going to the Flint, MI water crisis. Through working to make those businesses successful, Mr. Thomas found his niche. Mr. Thomas ventured out to develop his own idea for a sports themed restaurant. In October 2017 Mr. Thomas manage the design, and development of STATS Bar & Restaurant.  Once opened, he was appointed general manager. STATS Bar & Restaurant is a 15,000 sqft sports theme bar & restaurant located in the university area of Charlotte NC. Stats Bar and Restaurant is currently one of the premier locations in Charlotte, with over $3 million in sales. In 2019 Mr. Thomas was given the opportunity to purchase Max & Lola Bodega. He applied his business acumen to this new venture, and tripled sales in less than a year. Max & Lola has since been totally rebranded and is now 1501 South Mint.
