The Mister Embryo Show
The Mister Embryo Show is a conversation show about identity, community, and creativity, typically over many cups of coffee and/or whiskey. In this episode I share with you a song called "Hot Air Balloon," a song I wrote many years ago at a time I was feeling very alone, sad, angry, and hopeless. These are a lot of the same emotions we are experiencing right now as we mourn the deaths of countless members of the black community— innocent people who died as a result of the systemic racism in the United States that can no longer be ignored. I try my best to talk through some of the thoughts and emotions I've had these past couple weeks, offer some ways we can help create change and support the Black Lives Matter movement. I'm still learning, and this is only the beginning of a larger conversation we will continue to have within our home, within our communities and our society as a whole. This song is for George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin, and all our brothers and sisters who are mourning and suffering. And this song is for you, as a reminder for you to know your self-worth, and to know you can be the change you want to see in the world. Sounds corny, I know, but it's true.
